Sadie Vernon teachers speak of mismanagement at school

There is trouble brewing again at the Sadie Vernon High School in Belize City…and as it has in the past, the contention is between the teachers and the principal. The irritant is the mismanagement at the institution, according to the teachers. On Thursday night, a concerned group came to News Five’s studios to express their frustration with administration and the Board of Directors following a board meeting gone awry. According to the teachers, earlier this year, they forwarded to the Board, a list containing the purported mismanagement of resources and improper financial operations; all allegedly by principal, Laura Baptist Middleton. The allegations range from disrespect to unnecessary investments as well as unaccountability of school funds. The Board told News Five that it has been looking into the allegations. So far classes have continued, but the teachers are threatening to apply pressure early next week.

  1. gustavo says:

Maud Hyde (former chief education officer) has caused this happen. She placed two of her incompetent cronies to head schools. One-Carolyn Williams Tillett was fired for financial mismanagement from St. Michaels College. Now the other one-Laura Baptist- is doing the same. The BOA usually do not want to hear these allegations because they would have to act. Stand up for what is right, teachers.
