Frutos’ attempted murder with machete
Thirty-four year old Edgar Elmer Frutos, an employee of the Angelus Press Limited, appeared before Chief Magistrate Anne Marie Smith today, where he was read a string of charges stemming from an incident on April twenty-seventh. The technician is accused of hacking Osmond Romero with a machete, following a misunderstanding. In an affidavit, Frutos said that on the night in question he offered a stranger a lift to Waight Street. Upon dropping Romero off, he immediately attempted to forcibly re-enter the vehicle. When Frutos objected, Romero allegedly made for the car keys as if to abduct Frutos. In defending himself Frutos chopped him to the upper part of the body. Despite acting in self-defense, he was arraigned on one count of attempted murder, one count of dangerous harm and one count of deadly means of harm. Frutos is being represented by senior counsel Simeon Sampson, who will be applying for bail on his behalf since he has been remanded to the Belize Central Prison until July fourth.
Oh my goodness. Attempt murder charge for defending one’s self. That is so ridiculous
dont be an idiot Jon Doe.were you there to judge anytinh?
maybe u shoul dbe charged for bein an @$$
John Crow, were YOU there to judge what John Doe is saying? You should also be charged for being an @$$
I MIGHT be wrong…i mean, i am only human…BUT the above article says ” In defending himself Frutos chopped him to the upper part of the body.”…maybe that is where John Doe got it from…or maybe he is just psychic, who knows.
Whoever is the attacker, it seems a pretty stupid incident that could have been deadly. Anyone want to bet whether alcohol or drugs were involved?
Were YOU even there to know the real story John Crow… i happen to know the individual personally and it was self defense…. and idiot reading the story in itself can see that! Wouldn’t you defend yourself if someone advanced for your car keys? More over, the news was not even given how it really happened! Typical Belize tho, judging an incident before knowing the true facts!
The law states that you can defend yourself on your own property, even the police state that your own property includes your private motor vehicle, not only your house/residence. Why do people carry licensed firearms if it is not to protect oneself. if you do not have a firearm then a machette is the obvious weapon of choice for protection, some people carry baseball bats in their vehicles, if they hit someone with that is it attempted murder?
Let’s get real here
