Toddler drowns in bucket in Belize City

Another child purportedly drowned and Belize City police are tonight investigating the death of a toddler. The initial reports are that one year old Kyle Adain Leslie drowned inside a bucket of water on Friday afternoon at his Mahogany Street house. Sometime around two-twenty p.m., a team of officers visited the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where they saw the lifeless body of Kyle.  According to the mother, nineteen year old Tanya Leslie, she was asleep and upon waking up she discovered her son head first inside the bucket, apparently dead. The death of the toddler is now being classified as sudden death and his mother has since been detained. News Five also understands that the Department of Human Services has intervened in the matter to assist in investigating the circumstance leading to the child’s death.  Baby Kyle was the fifth infant casualty of drowning to be recorded in the past week. There are the murders of the Teul siblings and the drowning of the Burrell Boom student, David Alexander Cruz.

Here is a case where we definitely need a well-qualified medical examiner to determine whether it was an accident or a homicide. Either way, so sad to see another child go to heaven like this.
