  1. Time to stand says:

To all those supporting it here is a little word of thought:
You are wrong. God expects that we follow his law and commandments and he explicitly told us that a man should not sleep with another man. Neither a woman with another woman. How could you be so sick to feel attracted to someone that looks just like you….The explanation is simple. Homosexuals have evil spirits in them that make them feel as if they are born gay. Aint no freakin body born freaking Gyal I can’t stand when people say that. If you are born gay then I guess someone that kills and that can’t control it is born a killer?? Or the thief is born a their?!! Pure foolishness. God didn’t make any mistake. He burned a city that was filled with sodomy. That says it all. He made a man and a woman . He then told them to multiply. If he had made Adam and Steve how the hell would we be here today, no freakin picni Mih Gwen get make!!! Caz man and man can’t make picni. It is just sick!!! God loves the sinner but not the sin. And that gay feeling you have a Satan trying his best to mess up Gods plan for each of us. You have to pray hard if you feel that you are gay and God will help you, you can just pray once,,,you have got to pray day in , day out…24/7 he will help you. Be angry and sin not..meaning you may think you are gay but you cannot act upon it. And that doesn’t mean you are gay in nature…our first nature is to be straight. Everyone is possessed with different demons and yours are homosexuality. I pray that God rebuke that out of you cause That is disgusting. I never knew so many gay people was in BELIZE…after I saw the polls I was shocked!! Much prayer much power l.only God shall prevail!!

  2. Abigail H. says:

    Noooooooooooo!!!!!
THERE is MORE at STAKE than just allowing them to do what they do “in the privacy of their own home” as the attorneys-including Belizean attorneys are saying. Please people, REALIZE that!

  3. Darryl says:

i vote no.. it makes no sense for a man and a man to be together. or even a woman and a woman. don’t get me wrong i have nothing but love for them but i just don’t see something there that God approves of and if he doesn’t then neither do i…

  4. Shakira says:

    Noooooooo

  5. bless says:

    NO ABSOLUTELY NO!!!!!!

  6. Joe says:

homosexuality is one of the sins that the good book speaks on directly and is said that the persons who commit such a nasty act against the laws of GOD shall be put to death and so is all who is in support of it

  7. Margie Quan says:

I vote and say NO to decriminalizing sodomy. I think some people are confused by the term ‘decriminalizing’ and are voting yes when they mean to vote NO. God’s Word says to love each other, and we do; but we cannot allow the homosexuals to change a law that is based on God’s Word, to suit their perverted lifestyle. The homosexual act is an abomination in the sight of God, and since we have to respond to Him, now and in the end, we choose to stand for righteousness and not allow them to win and change our law! To God be the glory and the victory!

  8. human being says:

Its their life… let them live it freely and happily.. the way we all would want to live our lives! I VOTE YES< YES< YES.. Its not like we will be seeing ppl sodomizing each other on the streets..

  9. Yesi says:

    No!

  10. \sher says:

    NOOO

  11. Patrick Menzies says:

Noooooooo – I CATEGORICALLY REJECT THE CHANGING OF OUR LAWS! This was a key factor in my returning to Belize, after I saw the situation with the Homosexual Group’s Cruise ship.

None of us can throw stones and say that we haven’t all sinned, because we ALL have. We all need more of God; however, sodomy is UNACCEPTABLE – and is AN ABOMINATION.

The Constitution Acknowledges the Supremacy of God, and God’s word says in Lev. 18:22-23 (which I believe is the basis for the law that the Un-natural Minded folks want to throw out) “Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination. Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith: neither shall any woman stand before a beast to lie down thereto; it is confusion.”

Homosexual and Lesbian Acts are probably almost as old as mankind, however; that doesn’t give us license to practice it; the same way in which murder has been with us since the first family (Adam and Eve) – in which Cain killed his brother Able due to jealousy. Will we therefore also legalize MURDER?

I say – if the Government legalizes homosexual activities, then let them also legalize murder – so that we may all take matters into our own hands (especially since the conviction rate in Belize is so low it’s almost non-existent), and take out folks that are detrimental to us! I speak as a foolish person don’t I? Yes, I agree! Hence let’s not be fools and legalize an un-natural act that doesn’t produce any good for society nor for mankind.

If the parents of those liberals who support “Gay Rights” had practiced it – and only that – then those folks wouldn’t have been here today.

Some claim that the Gay lifestyle is another tool of the devil that is embraced by the powers that be, to control population growth, especially in those ethnic groups that are unacceptable to them! Is that so? Only God and those folks know that.

As far as I’m concerned, I have a blood relative (female) who will be married to another female in 5 days – and she proudly announces it on Facebook. I think it is a despicable act, and reject it 1,000,000,000,000,000%.

God loves us all, but he despises that lifestyle and so do I. Upon repentance however, we are all accepted into his fold.

I had a Male Church member who used to rape little boys! He repented of that lifestyle, and I freely hugged his neck like any other Christian brother. I didn’t hold it against him, nor did I reject him after he had changed!

Let’s love all of mankind, but let’s reject a Lifestyle that will do NOTHING POSITIVE TO OUR SOCIETY, nor can it PROCREATE TO CONTINUE THE SPECIES OF MANKIND!

**Note: I am not calling names nor am I making a personal attack on anyone! Please don’t pick a fight with me, I’m only the messenger, and God is the Author of the message to which I cling!
I would also like to say that many of us are or have been guilty of committing secret sins for which we will pay dearly, therefore let us love every man and pray for them to have a change of heart.

We shouldn’t make personal attacks on these individuals, because as Paul says: “for such were some of you…” Paul himself says: “Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” Phil. 3:12-13

  12. Boones says:

YESS……. NOOOO…. YESSS>……. we still ah win anyway…. LOL! so da wat?! Grow up kids….

  13. stefany says:

    Yes!!!

  14. Jan says:

thanks for the clarification Margie Quan because I think people are getting confused indeed with the word “decriminalizing”….vote no no no no people…. if you vote yes you are agreeing to allow the gays and lesbians with their perverted lifestyle…..that’s against God’s laws, he made Eve (woman) for Adam (man) not a man for a man or a woman for a woman….VOTE NO!

  15. Whappy says:

No . We need to learn to start being united as a people and start standing for something, including our values, instea of falling for everything that the throw after us. This is why politicians are able to be as corrupt as they want to be and we just lay down and take it. Belize prople over the years have become very submissive and passive about everyhting, and now look what is about tohappen. We are attempting tobe taken over by foreign perverted interest and Guatemala at the same time. UNITE, and stand strong. Divided we will all fall…….

  16. samantha says:

    Yes…..hell yes equal rights

  17. Alex P Vega says:

A Response to Homophobic Church Propaganda

“If the concept of God has any validity or any use, it can only be to make us larger, freer, and more loving. If God cannot do this, then it is time we got rid of Him.” –James Baldwin

Belize’s democracy is young and ought to hold much promise. Democracies are not static; they evolve as generations change and citizens become more enlightened and empowered to join in the public forum of ideas which eventually fosters a more equitable, just society. At times, however, certain socio-political forces impede a democracy’s natural evolution towards a necessary egalitarian state. Political cronyism, prejudice and religious dogmatism are often enemies of social development and a citizenry remains impoverished by these dangerous forces. If Belizeans are to usher their young, postcolonial democracy towards a more inclusive, pluralistic model, as represented by more modern, developed societies, it must contend with these dangerous forces that, left unchallenged, would keep the country in an arrested state, void of vision and potential for growth in multiple ways. It is no surprise that these forces perpetuate themselves by callous exploitation of the basest human emotions–fear and hatred. They may dumbfound and paralyze a populace and nobody knows how to manipulate them more than political demagogues and religious fanatics. Fear and hatred have no place in a healthy democracy; they must be confronted, challenged and eradicated vehemently if the promise of a young democracy is to be fulfilled.
UNIBAM, in exercising its rights in the Belizean democracy, finds it necessary to issue a response to a series of homophobic, fundamentalist propaganda being launched by certain religious groups. Such propaganda, a testament to the ignorant piety of the gullible, is clearly designed to incite fear and prejudice among the Belizean people against gay and lesbian citizens. It is based solely on religious dogmas, which are antithetical to reason or logic. It is obvious these religious groups have no intention to engage in a reasonable dialogue on the issue of homosexuality and a prejudicial law that could be used unjustly against gays in Belize. Their sole purpose is to disseminate their fallacious information and fuel the flames of intolerance. Now it is imperative to recognize and emphasize the fact that Belize is NOT governed by a theocracy or tenets that groups of citizens consider divine word of god. The case being brought forward by UNIBAM against Article 53 of Belize’s laws is a matter to be settled ONLY by the state without any influence from religious bodies or their incendiary rhetoric. UNIBAM’s argument is firmly based on the cause of inalienable human rights, regardless of nationality, religion, sex, gender, economic class, race or sexual orientation.
If Belize is to progress socially, it is imperative that it resist dogmatism, zealotry and bigotry, especially those that come under the guise of an ostensibly innocuous church. Dogmatic thinking and ideologies are counterproductive; they allow no room for intellectual inquiry, analysis, exchange of ideas or a healthy dialogue on important civil issues. If god is the be all end all, the explanation for everything, then humans must merely succumb to the hearsay tenets of god and not utilize their own intellectual capacity. One of the main reasons for the Dark Ages in Europe was due to the dominant church’s rigid censorship of the arts, sciences and philosophy, in effect, the public forum of ideas. Hence, during this period, almost a millennium, there was little significant development in these fields, which we know advance culture and civilization. Instead the church was busy sanctioning holy wars, witch hunts and burnings at the stake, the victims being anyone who did not comply with their strict tenets and moral codes. In fact, religious fanatics and gross distortions of religious texts have been responsible for significant strife in human history—The Inquisition, The Crusades, justification of slavery, the oppression of women, terrorist bombings in Ireland and the Middle East, to name a few. Belize, an already poor, struggling nation, cannot afford to be dragged into retrogression by these religious zealots for whom nonsensical dogmas should replace human autonomy, volition, potential and responsibility. It would be a grave travesty to allow these religious bigots and their highly subjective tenets to have any influence on public policy.
Instead of spreading fallacies and condemning others, these church groups would better serve the Belizean public by speaking out against poverty, rampant crimes, violence, injustice, and political corruption. The Christ we are familiar with says nothing about homosexuality, but he surely was a vehement critic of injustice and religious hypocrisy. The Christ we are familiar with compassionately walked among the lepers and the sex workers warning the zealots and the pious against casting the first stone at them. But instead of loving their neighbor as themselves, inspiring hope, or fighting for the rights of the oppressed, these religious groups somehow find it more worth their time to march and spread fallacious propaganda condemning homosexuals. They are fully aware that such tactics promote fear, discrimination, ignorance and even violence. Certain church leaders have been exploiting the power of their pulpit to misinform the public about the amendment to Section 53 of the laws of Belize. This is blatant hypocrisy. It seems that the church’s philosophy of love and forgiveness has succumbed to one of hatred and persecution. These crusaders must be held accountable for spreading pernicious lies that dangerously misguide the public. One of their recurring mantras, and that of homophobes in general, is “that by removing the sodomy law we give license to these homosexual pederast to infiltrate our schools and sexually abuse our children.” There is ample empirical evidence from the Caribbean that shows that most child sexual abuse/rape/exploitation is perpetrated by heterosexual men. The incidents of heterosexual sex abusers sexually molesting young girls (including members of their own families), is epidemic in Belize. To further educate on this issue, sex between men and minor boys (pederasty), is not considered by sexologists to be affiliated with sexual orientation, or eroticism. Such act is based on control, abuse of power and exploitation of the vulnerable. It is, therefore, deceptive and dangerous to correlate homosexuality and pederasty. Now, it is interesting that this fallacious propaganda is coming from the pulpit which has had no shortage of sex scandals with minors over many years and in many countries. Great job, Christian soldiers; what a way to do god’s work.

Zealots seem unaware of their own self-contradiction, though conscious of the way they select their battles. It must be emphasized that what their religious creeds deem sinful is by no means subjected to civil illegality. Premarital sex, having multiple sex partners and using contraceptives, though sinful in the eyes of the church, are widely practiced without any civil or state disapproval. It would be a curious thing to see these crusaders try to have the state criminalize these practices. But obviously, they know the impossible battle they would have with such campaigns. They are also hypocritically aware of a slew of other forbidden practices cited in their religious texts, but which they themselves commit on a daily basis and then seem to conveniently ignore. And so, once again, homosexuality becomes the cause célèbre that helps to validate their raison d’etre. Make no mistake, it is a campaign founded on fallacies, fear, ignorance, unassailable dogmatism, and a refusal to comprehend the world within the sphere of reason and logic.
UNIBAM reiterates its case that consenting adults have an inalienable right to their bodies and to privately engage in whatever form of intimacy they choose. This right should not be impeded, in any way, by a state law, or the highly subjective values of religious doctrines and dogmas. Belize has an auspicious opportunity to stand out as a promising, young democracy, one that empowers its citizens with their rights and designs laws that preserves those rights. Belize is at the threshold of becoming the first nation in the Caribbean to decriminalize sodomy, a move that has already been made by almost all developed nations of the world. We trust that Belize will choose to join such league of nations and set an example for the region. We will continue to resist religious bigotry and challenge these crusaders to disprove Jonathan Swift’s observation that “we have just enough religion to make us hate but not enough religion to make us love one another.”

  33. Kimberly says:

I actually have nothing against homo sexual people. It’s their life let them do what they want.

  34. Jon says:

I am not gay but i have friends who are “in the closet.” I think that not too long ago black people were treated like animals because of skin color now black people along with white people are treating homosexual like animals because of sexual orientation. How are we saying that God loves us but we can’t love our own? I might be a bit blind (i wear glasses) but this is clearly discrimination. I was not able to understand why homosexuality existed but then I looked at myself and asked myself why heterosexuality existed? I can’t pick who i like the same way a gay person can’t pick who they like. if anyone could that would mean that all of us in the world who said we are straight would be suppressing our feelings for the same sex. If anyone reading this is doing just that i am sorry to let you know but you are gay. I support this because if i have a child that is gay, i would like him or her to have equal right as myself. I say YES!!!!!

  35. ricks.zelaya says:

    NO NO NO NO

  36. Rose says:

    Yes to Equality!

  37. Storm says:

Absolutely NO — sodomy is not a human right, it is a human WRONG.

  38. David says:

Alex P Vega, I totally agree with everything you say. I voted YES!

  39. angelique says:

No do not agree with decriminalizing sodomy not only becausenof religious purposes but also but of the Natural law. Sodomy is an unnatural act and can be one of the biggest cause of diseases. Let’s stand together as a country and fight against such act that not only is wrong and unhealthy but also because of the fact that it does not support procreation (:

  40. sandra says:

No…..we cant allow gay marriage because it is like the citizens of Belize spiting in Gods face because marriage is to be only between a man and a woman…learn to follow the rules of the Bilble ppl…there are alot of things ppl wish that they cld do but u must knw the difference btwn wat is right and wrong and follow Gods words…we cant allow our country to be pulled in by the devil…ur not free ur just under the devils control…wake up and realize….break his grip…follow Gods order for marrigae…

  41. kori says:

    NO i don’t support!

  42. G says:

    YES EQUAL RIGHT FOR ALL!!!

  43. Afowoyo. says:

Most of you advocating for UNIBAM under the guise of “human right” are obvious ignorant of what you are asking for. This is Balaam Doctrine which teaches the people to provoke God to anger by way of ungodly life style.Whether you call it human right or life style, sodomy is a SIN and those who practice it including those who advocate for it will sure be punished. The Word of God – Roman 1:27-31. ( Read through and tell me what is God’s position in this case, if indeed you believe in God and fear God.
Psalms 33:12 says,Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord….
Belize population is less than 500,000 people and this is agenda is also an attacked on the nation,s population in the Lord run.
This is a direct attack on our family value.
Let us be warn. No unrepentant sinner will go unpunished.
My prayer- May the Lord have mercy and touch the heart of those who the devil is using to push this homosexual agenda and to bring them to repentance.

  44. Chels says:

Belize has many crime already. For years Belize has never come to this. Let them keep their private life to themselves!!! Hell no I don’t support them!! Not everyone is going to be happy with them being open and i wont be surprised if it does not end up with violence if they win.

  45. delvorine says:

    i vote no

  46. Ashley R says:

HELLLL………NO……………………..!!!!! LIKE COM ON PPLZ DAT JST NASTY OUTA D WORLD………!!! PPL NEED FI GET A LIFE….O BTW I DO NOT SUPPORT 100%………!!!!!!

  47. David Taylor says:

I vote a resounding NO! NO! NO! There is no hate here. We love the sinner but certainly hate the sin. Regardless of what anyone thinks or believes, homosexuality is a sin like most others and WILL be judged by God. They were NOT created or born that way. It’s a choice that they made to be a perversion in the sight of God. The moment one of them chooses to repent from that lifestyle, God will forgive them. He loves them more than we do and wants his created beings to come to righteousness. God Bless Belize!

  48. AEF says:

No. We shall love them ,but hate the sin. That’s what the Word of God says. The bible has the prove search it for yourself . God bless those who agree and those who don’t, God deal with them.

  49. Cheyl Turner says:

I vote NO! The changing of Section 53 will demoralize Belize even more than it already is. We know the homosexuals are coming out of the woodwork more and more, but giving them a legal right to rape boys and men, to marry and to adopt children will unravel the very threads of the Belizean society. It’s time to stand up for righteousness in the country of Belize. Victory for the churches and for the righteous – God be praised!!.

  50. John says:

Alex, Its obvious that you totally lack wisdom and understanding. You are self seeker and do not care about our family value and the future of our generation. This is an indication of your complete degradation of morale values and lack of fear of God.I doubt if you are a true Belizean.
The Fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. Proverbs 9:10.
The fool hath said in his heart, there is no God Psalms 14:1; Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.. Your utterances are a product of what your heart believe.
May the Lord have mercy on you and give you change of heart, because, despite, Gos still loves you
    John 3:16.
