Runaway; have you seen this missing child?

Scott Thompson

But there is some disturbing news to report. Thirteen year old Scott Thompson, affected by a psychiatric disorder, has been missing from his home in San Ignacio Town since April twenty-seventh.  The teenager was last seen wearing a grey shirt with a blue dragon design, a pair of black jeans shorts and black slippers.  According to his mother, Elvira Thompson, it is not the first time that Scott has run away from home.  His affliction, she says, is aggravated by the lunar cycle.

“We were at home, he was playing with his little sister and all of a sudden he just went out of the door without us knowing that he was going and my daughter was shouting for him and he just kept on going.  We didn’t know where was, he just upped and left the house.”

“How long has he been missing?”

Elvira Thompson

“I think it’s two weeks now that he’s missing, since the twenty-seventh of April he left home and hasn’t returned as yet.  The last time I heard about him they told me that he was on the way going to Ontario Village.  So he was heading up this side to Belize City.  That was the last I ever heard about my son.”

“You mentioned to me that he has a mental condition, can you elaborate on that?”

Elvira Thompson

“Yes.  He’s a special needs child and whenever the moon, three days before the moon gets full, is when he’s determined to go on the street or three days after.  And that’s what happened, he just get caught up and he just went away.”

“This matter has been reported to the police, I presume in San Ignacio/Santa Elena, what have they been doing to try to assist you in locating your son?”

Elvira Thompson

“So far they are trying very hard.  They are looking everywhere for him at the moment and they haven’t found him as yet either.”

Isani Cayetano

“As a parent, seeing as though, as you mentioned, this is not the first time your son has ran away.  Do you fear the worst if this is the longest he’s been away from home?”

Elvira Thompson

“Yes, I do fear the worst because I don’t want anybody to hurt him because he is so nice, you know, and loving.  It’s just that little problem that he has that he runs away.”

Anyone knowing the whereabouts of Scott is asked to contact the nearest police station or call his family at 624-7621.
