GSU takes gun and marijuana off the streets

Just before midday today, the Gang Suppression Unit arrested fifty-two year old taxi driver, Valentine Ferguson. He was driving a Toyota car when he was intercepted by the Unit near the house of who is described as a reputed drug dealer on West Street. The vehicle sped away in the direction of Water Lane with the GSU in pursuit. But on Baghdad Street, Ferguson was seen disposing of a plastic bag through the front passenger side window of his vehicle. The bag contained almost two pounds of cannabis. Ferguson was charged for Possession of Controlled Drug with Intent to supply. According to the GSU this is Ferguson’s third arrest for drug related offences. The GSU also conducted three separate operations on Wednesday. In the morning, the Unit Gang retrieved a firearm near the edge of the canal in the Back-a-Town area of Saint Jude Street.   The Unit detained Berris Torres of Tibruce Street, who was standing on a small wooden bridge. The GSU says they saw Torres throw what turned out to a point thirty-eight Special Revolver Astra Brand near the canal’s bank which was loaded with five live rounds. Torres was arrested and charged for the offences of Kept Firearm without Having Being Granted a Gun License and Kept Ammunition without Having Been Granted a Gun License. He is described as a reputed member of the PIV gang.
