Cops need more cooperation on murder of security guard
The murder of twenty-three year old security guard Randy Casey, while on duty at Kenny’s Store on Friday night, goes on unsolved tonight as witnesses to the dreadful killing remain uncooperative with San Ignacio Police. Following the weekend homicide, two persons, including an employee of the Ministry of Works, were detained, questioned and subsequently released. Casey was relieved of his service weapon after being shot twice in the left torso and lower abdomen. According to Deputy Commander, Inspector Reymundo Reyes, despite recovering the weapon, the public has been noncompliant in coming forward with information on the murder.
Insp. Reymundo Reyes, Deputy Commander, San Ignacio Police
“At this present moment the investigation is still ongoing. We had a person of concern in custody, but we had to release him before his forty-eight hours were offer. During the investigation, we managed to recover the stolen firearm from the security officer. At this moment we are looking for one person who could assist us with the investigation. But unfortunately we do not know location or whereabouts at this moment.”
Casey had been working with Force Security for one month and on Friday, it was the first time that he had been issued a firearm for the function of his duties.
When witnesses refuse to cooperate, they should be thoroughly investigated to see if they are wanted for any crime, unpaid fines, anything to use as leverage against them.
What kind of people do we have now living here, to watch a murder and remain silent?
Maybe it’s too late to save the Jewel, certainly there doesn’t seem to be any good shepherd on the scene trying to save it.
I am a member of the Cayo community and I know that in the pass years, Cayo made its name for zero tolerance in crime. However, since the removal of Mr. Gentle as OC we are seeing a gradual deterioration of the Cayo crime temperament. I know that crime is not dependent on the OC Moody because that’s beyond any man’s control but the break down of community support for the San Ignacio police formation can be blamed on vile officers like cpt. Sierra. Who is ignorant, threatening, abusive and disrespectful.
A more respectful police formation would have all the support of the community. if its one thing they didn’t learn was manners and respect for the people as ther job is to protect not treat people like if they are superior just cuase the uniform.
@ Sweet Belizean Girl- agree with u 110%.
HOwever, we saw the business community were at force in removing Mr Gentle ~ here’s the outcome. We have a linient OC – who does not pressure his officers to earn the respect and support of the community instead they have developed a reputation to be abusive, disrespectful and corrupt much like our present leaders of this country. it is a chain effect and as usual being humans, we watch and follow what comes from above even though we know it is wrong. If Jack can do it and get away with it- so can I…
Anybody knows if we still have a PM? is he still alive? Anybody out there knows?
Somehow when i watch police reports on crime I get the sense they are always incomplete. Like in this case, police say they recovered the gun of the security. Where was it found? who found it? etc. At the end of these crime stories I always tend to ask questions that reporters seem to miss.
Jackie. Yes we still have a supposed pm but judas is too busy getting his pieces of silver to care about anyone or anything else in this country him and all his crooks need to be arrested and put in jail fu thief thief thief.
