Will Emil Moreno ride again as cycling president?
The twenty-fourth running of the Women’s Cross Country Cycling Classic, scheduled for this Sunday as well as other upcoming races have been postponed indefinitely. The annual Women’s Cross Country ride from San Ignacio Town to Belize City is the second largest sporting event for female cyclists. This year’s race promised a number of familiar faces, including defending champion Kaya Cattouse, Shalini Zabaneh, Kirah Eiley, Marinette Flowers and Gina Lovell. The news tonight is that an injunction has been served on the President of the Belize Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association, the oversight body currently presiding over the Belize Cycling Association to put a stop to upcoming cycling events. BCA president Emil Moreno was reelected weeks ago to the Western Regional Association Executive. But his election came under challenge and last Friday, he filed an application in the Supreme Court, through attorney Leo Bradley Jr., to prevent them from unseating him. Despite a formal request being submitted on Friday, elections were held the following day and new officials were elected over the weekend. The court order was served earlier today on National Olympics Committee President Hilly Martinez; however, executives of the cycling association contend that Moreno, never consulted them or received their approval prior to filing the injunction. That decision, they say, was taken in isolation of the BCA administration. As a result all upcoming cycling events, including the National Individual Time Trial Road Championship in June have been suspended.

A WASTE OF TIME!!!!!!!!!
I hope Moreno loses and slinks away into the shadows once and for all. He doesn’t care what he can do for the sport, only what it can do for him. Be gone!
