Foam factory boss murdered by employee
Just before Wilfred Peters the third was gunned down, there was another murder. A Hattieville businessman, Wei Tao Liu, succumbed to injuries when he was hit on the head by one of his employees. The incident occurred at his place of business at mile twelve and a half on the George Price Highway just before two o’clock while the men were working the night shift. The suspect, a Honduran national, reportedly drove away in Lui’s vehicle and has not been located and is believed to have headed west to cross the border. The Chinese community is offering a reward for his capture. Duane Moody has that story.
Duane Moody, Reporting
Forty-two year old businessman, Wei Tao Liu, was working at his foam factory at mile twelve and a half on the George Price Highway along with three of his workers. Around two a.m. he was pronounced dead at the K.H.M.H.; he was hit to the back of the head with an object by one of the three employees, Christian Muñoz. But it doesn’t end there, as Muñoz then took Liu’s keys to his Toyota Tacoma pickup and drove away from the scene and remains on the run.
Lee Mark Chang, Representative, Chinese Community
“I got a phone call this morning and learned that my friend got murdered. The police was asking for some assistance and probably some information so I went and tried to give a hand. Basically what I found out is that he was murdered by his employee; there were two witnesses to it. The guy also stole his car to get away.”
ASP Christopher Noble, Rural Executive Officer
“We had a report of an incident in the area of the foam factory. Police did visit and we do have a male person that was injured and had been transported to the hospital. That person succumbed and subsequent to that, our investigation has led us to record some statements and the matter is still ongoing. The suspect in this case or the person of interest in this case has not yet been detained and we are hopeful that we will.”
But what could have triggered Muñoz to hit his employer causing his death? The motive remains a mystery…that is until Muñoz is detained.
“We are still looking into what circumstances led to the injuries being inflicted.”
Daniel Ortiz, Channel 7
“Can you tell us what is the relationship between the deceased and the person of interest?”
ASP Christopher Noble
“Relationship I can’t say, but I can say that he was a worker at the establishment because it was a place of business that the incident occurred.”
Lee Mark Chang
“I really don’t know what happened or what transpired, but I don’t know of any motive.”
And to assist in getting justice, the Chinese Association is providing a reward of five thousand dollars to anyone who can assist the department with the arrest of Liu’s killer, who it is believed is attempting to flee across the border.
Lee Mark Chang
“He’s on the run right now. I have been in contact with the chairman—he is in China right now—and the vice-chairman and they have agreed to give a five thousand dollars cash reward for information leading to the arrest of this person.”
Muñoz, a Honduran national, had been working at the establishment for over a year. Duane Moody for News Five.
Anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of Muñoz is asked to please contact the nearest police station or call crime stoppers at 0-800-922-TIPS.
No pictures of the Honduran national? – Tall or short? Straight or wavy hair? Fat or slim? I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA HOW THIS PERSON LOOKS!!! With that said, how would I be able to assist? I have been complaining about this issue many, many times. For the sake of justice and professional journalism, please post pictures!
Incompetent impotent dumb pm and gov they need to go locked up person .
I agree with BMNJ, let’s see the suspect. How else can the public help arrest him?
If he’s here legally, there must be a photo of him in the Immigration office. If not here legally, why was he working — wasn’t there a Belizean who wanted the job?
Let’s hope he’s caught and pays with his life.
We should keep the widow and children in our prayers, too.
it’s just a personal view, hope no offense,
I’ve personally seen that these chines boss like to intimidate their workers when working, rough them up like if they own them, example the place in Santa Elena (ERA Plaza)while passing by during the construction I saw how the chines boss was treating the worker there, I pause and look how this guy was being roughed up which is a usual thing with foreigners who employ mostly try to over work them for little pay, this could be a a potential cause of this murder, needs a lot of investigation.
remember it’s what I’ve seen doesn’t it this case went that way.
this police appears arrogant and the least bit helpful. if the man worked at the place for over a year he must pay social security and they must have a photo on file that can be released to the media in minutes.. sloppy police work as usual.
@Belizean Pride, I think everyone has seen employers, including Chinese, mistreat workers one way or another. Some bosses are good — Chinese, Belizean, every nationality, and some are bad — I have no idea about this one.
But even if the victim were the worst boss in the country, the solution is to quit the job and find another one, not murder the man!
So it’s no defense that he hated his boss, if that’s the case.
Personally, I wonder if alcohol was involved. It will be interesting to hear what the other 2 workers who were present saw and heard.
agree with you storm a case has two sides it ‘s a point I wanted to share that i saw and things like these happens so just saying but like your comment also.
Belizean Pride if u ever work with Mr. Liu, u won’t say that again, go ask ppl who know Mr.Liu in person!
