Namesake and grandson of legendary musician, murdered

Gun blasts were heard just before two o’clock this morning in the vicinity of George Frazer and Iguana Streets. When the gunfire subsided, twenty-six year old Wilfred Peters, the third lay dead in a pool of blood in his kitchen. But who killed the grandson of the legendary king of brukdong and why? That’s what the family wants to know. Investigations are ongoing, but it is known so far that three men were seen rushing out of the house. The grieving father told Duane Moody this morning, that he had lost his only son.

Slaughtered like an animal…that’s how Wilfred Peters the second feels after his only son, twenty-six year old Wilfred Peters the third was heinously killed just before two this morning inside his newly built home. It was only a month since he moved in. He was sleeping inside his room when his front door was kicked in by one of three men who stormed his residence. And moments later at least five shots were heard and Peters the third laid dead in front of his bedroom door. Three men were seen running away from the scene towards the boulevard thereafter. Peters the second was sleeping when he got the tragic news.

“About after two last night, I mi deh home di sleep and I get wah call saying police dehn ina my son house, Wilfred Peters the third. So me and my stepson, we hurry up gone there. When I get there, I see police, I see my son lying out on the floor inside the house.”

“By the bedroom cause it looks like dehn mi di try get ina di house. Dehn stop down the door and ih look like when he mi hear the person di stomp open the door, he come out by the room door and dehn shot ahn. And ih drop and it look like dehn mussi stand up over ahn and dehn finish shoot up ahn because dehn have bullet holes all ina di floor. When dehn get through, police bring ahn out mek I see ahn. Ih got gunshot wounds ina ih face and about five to six shots ina ih chest.”
But why would anyone want to so viciously kill the youth? His father says that his demise came on the heels of hard talk earlier on Wednesday night between his son and a group of men in front of Kim Shop Two just a short distance away from where he lived.

“Well I noh really think ih have any enemies because dah somebody weh like talk but ih noh mean weh ih di say. Ih like talk and run joke with people. Ih mi have some misunderstanding with three guys the same night. So dehn mussi wait…”

“You’re saying he had an altercation with these guys. Where?”

“And so it is believed that these same people came back and did what happened?”

The murder is even more heart-wrenching for the family who is still coping with the loss of the deceased’s grandfather and Brukdong King Mister Peters three years ago. Instead of a memorial for the passing of the Belizean musical legend, another relative will be laid to rest.

“My sister was coming in from the states because we mi di plan fi have; it mi wah be three years since my father dead, Mister Peters. So now we get something different; dehn kill my son.”

Indeed, these are the last days! And it is just as unfortunate that my people are fulfilling what the scriptures foretold about the lack of love and the increase in violence.
That’s the only explanation I have as to why a little hard talk would result in a man having his door kicked in, in the middle of the night and shot up, as he laid defenselessly on the floor.
We have lost our way and are now lower than animals.

I guess you can’t be outspoken in Belize now. You supposed to swallow everything these people tell you and keep going, what is wrong with those youths now, they have no mercy and remorse. May they rot in hell by their cowardly act. They did the crime and don’t have the balls to stand up and face the music, so they run!!! You are cowards…

His grandfather was truly one of the Kings of our music. It’s sad to see the grandson come to such a brutal end. Hopefully the murderers will die in turn, so justice will be complete.

My family is one of only love and compassion and we do not wish for anyone to feel what we are feeling right now, but I must say that there are too many negative people in this world, and they in turn bring forth these negative hating @$$ ……. children with no “brought-up-sy. You have no right to put my family through this crap. You better be glad that God is a God of compassion and I pray that he have mercy on your souls for taking my uncle only child. I just read some famous quotations of a retiring US Marine general named Mattis, and sadly this terrible story reminds me of one of them, becoming a necessity in the Jewel:
“Be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everyone you meet.”
He was referring to terrorists in Afghanistan, but it’s good advice for the mean streets of the City.
That said, let’s hope these killers are caught and killed, the sooner the better.
