Truck driver loses life in accident

There was a traffic mishap on the Hummingbird Highway which resulted in the death of one man, George Victor Crawford from the village of Guinea Grass in the Orange Walk district. Belmopan Police were called out to mile twenty-nine on the Hummingbird Highway where they found the lifeless body of Crawford on the road, and his truck in a ditch off the road. Crawford had injuries to the back of his head. Police believe that he was driving his towhead from Pomona to Belmopan, and upon reaching a hill at mile twenty-nine he lost control of the truck and it started going off the side of the road. While it is only speculation at this point, they think that Crawford got frightened and jumped out of the truck as it was going off the road, and that is when he sustained the fatal injury to his head. Crawford’s body has been transported to the Western Regional Hospital morgue where it awaits a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.
