Attorney says Gender Policy is mischievous on sexual orientation
The Revised Gender Policy 2013, a product of the National Women’s Commission was updated to identify and examine inequities experienced by men and women while suggesting ways to correct gender disparities. The implementation of the policy has caused alarm in several sectors of society. One of the presenters at the launch of the document, Adele Catzim Sanchez, spoke about quote “discrimination against persons because of their gender orientation or sexual identity.” Executive Director of the Women’s Commission Ann-Marie Williams agreed that it is part of the preamble of the policy and she said, “It’s in the constitution.” But Attorney Arthur Saldivar believes that the inclusion of sexual orientation in the gender policy document is mischievous since the case of Caleb Orozco versus the Attorney General is awaiting a decision before the courts.
Arthur Saldivar, Attorney
“In terms of the preamble that I have been informed was referred to as granting the commission its mandate to suggest that sexual orientation should be interpreted as being a part of the constitution, I cannot see how the words in paragraph E of the preamble leads anyone to that interpretation. What paragraph E suggests is that government is required to enact policies that denote basic fairness to all manners of people regardless of color, creed, race, ethnicity or sex. It speaks to gender equality. Now, when we are speaking about gender equality and sex, it is the normal everyday ordinary meaning attributed to those words by the Belizean man and woman that is to be taken as meant by parliament. Now, in 1981, you really and truly conjure in your mind that the Belizean man and woman were thinking about homosexual sex in 1981? No. What sex denotes is the physical attribute of the person; its anatomical composition—a man and his anatomical parts; a woman and her anatomical parts. What sexual orientation denotes is akin to sexual preference. What a person chooses to do with himself as a man or a woman as it relates to their preference—what they like, their choice—so no. Certainly, the constitution is not talking about that, not referring to that, from my interpretation. The fact that the commission would want to advance this in light of the fact that there is a matter before the court, in front of the Chief Justice no less is mischievous to say the least. It appears to me to be some move to preempt the court in its function and I don’t see where that is allowed in our system. I think they should have refrained and waited until the judgment was brought back.”
The inclusion of sexual orientation in the gender policy of Caribbean nations came up in Trinidad on May seventeenth. Marlene Coudray, the Minister of Gender, Youth and Child Development, told the media that gay rights were not a part of the gender policy which is before that country’s Cabinet.

I’ve been critical of attorney Saldivar in some cases in the past, but he said it well here. It seems Ms. Williams may be trying to influence the court that will decide the Orozco sodomy-rights case, which is entirely wrong; more broadly, she is also trying to push the international homosexual agenda on our little, Christian nation.
Saldivar did a very clear job of explaining why the constitutional protection of gender has nothing to do with protecting “orientation” or deviancy.
I am completely outraged when ignorant people like those who posted before me are against Human Rights. You might not like it when we say GAY RIGHTS! Fact is that Women’s rights, Gay Rights, Civil & Political Rights all fall under one branch. HUMAN RIGHTS! Please respect diversity! Nobody is discriminating against the church. In fact it’s the church who have had alot of rape and child molestation issues which have been covered up by Relgious Leaders. Spread love and acceptance, because we are all equal in dignity and rights, no matter race, culture, religion, sexual orientation or gender identity. There are no special rights being created for minority groups, there are simply being given additional attention becuase these are the people at risk of stigma and discrimination.
Human rights yes, gay rights? Hmmm, being gay is being animal so better check with the Animal Conservation..Oh I just remembered, not even animals do male on male, so I guess this is still a different species.
Ravi says all these human rights …… how about a right to be human!
I am sorry to inform you that here are animals that do same gender intercourse… However being gay does not make you an animal,… being a closed minded uneducated lump of being makes you one… as those who let their emotions show their ignorant side… or probably its just that they dont have another side… they are just plain ignorant animals…. The big difference between animals and humans is common sense, yet somethimes people alike this person calling himself Belizean, Storm, etc etc….

Please stop referring to the homosexual agenda as a human right. Are there rights for straight people? The rights granted to everyone are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Maybe we should interpret “happiness” as the right to commit sodomy. That is what the court case is about – sodomy. The homosexual agenda takes on more sinister role – the next steps are gay marriage, sodomy with children (again, refer to nambla.org), teaching that it is OK in our schools, sex with animals. What after that?? Look at ancient civilizations and learn why they became weak and collapsed – people quit working and had sex with the same gender and animals. The moral fabric of society ceased to exist. So Amircito, the Church does have cases of sex with children as does every facet of society. We do not need a Church to explain what is right and wrong or natural and unnatural. We need strong families to teach that procreation is between a man and a woman. Church doctrine is what guides a congregation. Men and women are fallible, but God’s word (the Bible) is infallible.
Actually, Amircito, the United Nations has a “Universal Declaration of Human Rights” — and guess what? SEXUAL ORIENTATION isn’t among them!
I know the ultra-liberals, atheists, homosexuals, and others around the world want to re-define marriage and undermine moral institutions, but they just don’t have a recognized legal basis to support them.
The people of Belize have the right of any sovereign people to decide how they will consent to be governed, and we have done that — it is our Constitution.
Even though it is not required, our Constitution complies with the UN Universal Declaration of Human rights.
Foreign agitators can go elsewhere if they don’t like how we exercise our national sovereignty. We don’t want to be colonized again by outsiders forcing themselves on us. That’s our God-given right.
this is not our home call Belize any longer, gay right find cave, your sure not living on planet earth foundation of Christ..devil is trying to back you str8 inside eternal fire.
