UB responds to serious concerns of course credit transfer by students
Students of the University of Belize also share the sentiments of the Seine Bight resident, but they want cash from their institution. The UB students have raised some serious concerns with the institution, with the focus on what they call chaos regarding the course credit transfer system and they were also very critical about the fees charged to Bachelor Program students taking Associate Level courses. Late today, the University of Belize responded to those issues via a press release. The transfer of credits is processed through a National Articulation Framework developed by a committee with members from tertiary level institutions in Belize. The release states that if students can cite specific cases of inconsistencies in the transfer of credits those will be investigated on an individual basis. And as to the allegation that Bachelor Program students must pay higher fees for Associate Level courses, the University concurs, and makes no apology for it, stating that it is the policy of UB to assess cost by program, and not by course.
what the hell? so only rich people are allowed to get a bachelors? cost of living is not cheap and yet they claim to make education more financially available for the people of our country? come on, it is costing hard working people an eye and an arm to even get their children through high school nowadays and how bout those who are putting themselves through high school or junior college on their own? but as i can concur in this simple statement received from the board of UB, only those with money will come out on top and the poor hard working class will stay the slaves of society to the rich governing hands who choose to oppress and ridicule instead of giving all the fair opportunity to those who really want to succeed. i know many just want a degree and get a job and earn easy money but there are those who want to really succeed and don’t have the means to do so. this is especially since the gov’t does not grant proper scholarships and only the shady government post holding people along with board of governors like these will advance; keeping their noses high in the air like if they smell everyone else like stool
It seems obvious to me that UB must publish the curriculum for these courses, so that every student and every other college knows what must be taught in order for course credits to be transferred to UB. It seems like a simple matter of stating exactly what is expected, and coordinating with the other colleges. Why can’t the doctors and geniuses who run our college system perform such a basic, obvious, and simple task?
I’m with the students on this one, to force the grown-ups to manage the colleges like grown-ups.
UB should think for the students that come from a Junior College and accept those courses. Its not only time consuming for us students but it is also waste of money. After taking two years to complete an associates and going back to re-do an entire year just because they don’t transferr most of the credit courses is just a waste of money and time. They Should look forward in fixing this many of us students work and try to get an education at the same time. Instead of making students Succeed they keep us back.
