Throwing gun on ground still gets you jail time
An illegal firearm and six rounds of ammunition have landed one man behind bars at the Belize Central Prison. Police claim that they were on mobile patrol on Saturday near the Lord Ridge Cemetery when they saw two men and approached them. One of the men, identified as twenty year old Lindon Hinds was reportedly seen throwing down an object which turned out to be a point thirty-eight revolver with six live rounds of ammunition. Hinds and a seventeen year old minor were detained on Saturday and today appeared in the court of Senior Magistrate Sharon Frazer, where a request was made to withdraw the charges against the minor, and he was allowed to go free. Hinds was read both charges of keeping an unlicensed firearm and keeping unlicensed ammunition, and because of the nature of the offenses he could get no bail and was remanded until July sixteenth.
Good job by the police, I hope the case sticks. Last time this man was in jail, he was running around with a pellet gun, it seems he’s moving on up the ladder of violence and criminality.
