‘Nose’ charged with discharging his firearm in public

There was a shooting in the Neal’s Pen Road area between Haynes Street and Neal’s Pen Road that left no one injured and it gave the community a scare. Darren Godfrey Dawson, aka “Nose”, a well-known Office Assistant of a local business in downtown Belize City, is accused of discharging the firearm in public.  The incident happened on Monday and today Dawson pleaded not guilty to the charge, but due to the nature of the offense, Dawson was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until June twenty-fourth. Dawson was informed that he can apply for bail at the Supreme Court within the next fourteen days but that at the Belize City Magistrate’s Court, bail will be eligible until the next ninety days.   In a report, police say that, on Monday gunshots were heard by Sergeant Keith Clark, who was on his verandah. Clark claims that when he saw Dawson firing shots targeting an unidentified person, he rushed out and was able to apprehend him. Dawson was taken into custody at the Queen Street Police Station and charged. But police, it seems, did not recover any gun in his possession and this is why he has not been charged with any firearm related offenses.
