“The House of Shotokan was invited to a mixed martial arts championship in Chetumal Mexico, Friday night to participate in a “Vale Todo” mixed martial arts tournament that was held there in Mexico. Two of our fighters from the academy’s mixed martial art team went there—one fought in the featherweight division, the other one fought in the bottom-weight division which is one hundred and forty-five pound and one thirty pounder. Both of them did outstanding, they did exceptional. Our fighter, Lester Alvarado, he won his bout in a knockout and Elaine Bullet, he won his round again with a knock out where they had t stop the fighter. The other fighter’s coach threw in the towel on that fight.”

“Well actually the fight was pretty good, I was pretty confident. I finally got to meet someone I believe my own weight-class. It was an even fight. We had our ups and downs and highlights and those in the fight, but at the end of the fight I was victorious. To the end it was the man with more stamina and that was me.”

Lester Alvarado

“My strength was my stamina. I had more stamina than him. Like by the first round, he was already breathing really hard and I was like yes. And by the time I saw that he was breathing hard, I was like yes, I got this fight.”

Jose Sanchez

“What moves did you use on him? Was it punches, was it kicks, what it holds?”

Lester Alvarado

“Mostly punches. I tried a few kicks and I got some of them in but it was mostly the punches.”

“We continuously get invitations Jose from different mixed martial art competition happening in Mexico, the United States. We recently got an invite from Guatemala. We are looking to entertain some of these fights that we have received here at the academy. However, what we are looking at is the rematch between Iceman and Galera from Mexico which we are looking to schedule that in August the seventeenth, mid August here in Belize at the Belize Elementary School.”

A major rematch between the house of Shotokan and its Mexican counterparts is scheduled for August in Belize.
