Minister of State Santino injured in cycling accident
Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s office, Santi Castillo, was involved in a cycling accident on the Western Highway this morning. Throughout the day, a battery of tests was taken to determine the extent of internal injuries and tonight, Castillo remains hospitalized. The accident happened near mile thirty-five at the peak of a sprint when another cyclist rode unto Castillo’s rear wheel. As a result, the minister of state fell and on impact, his helmet cracked. He sustained a fractured rib, a broken collar bone and punctured lungs. Castillo will be undergoing further tests. It is not known how long he will remain hospitalized at the Belize Medical Associates.
he should have been taken to KHMH…oh brother..forgot. Of course they, like the leader of our country do not enter those doors- they are better than that. Only the poor people go there to get killed since we can’t afford specialized care…
Ouch, Jackie! The truth hurts!
Surprised there are not a lot more cycling accidents, try driving up the George Price Highway between the junction with Fabers Road and the Police Posts at 4:30 in the morning, Bikes with no reflectors, no lights, no high visibility clothing. It is dark, the bike cannot be seen, especially when a vehicle is coming towards you with only one eye on full beam.
