5 persons charged for illegal entry to Belize

Five persons have been arrested for illegal entry, including a seventy year old man from Honduras, his two daughters, a cousin and a friend. Immigration officials believe that the group was being aided by Honduran and naturalized Belizean thirty four year old Andy Mejia from Orange Walk who is also the son-in-law of the elderly man. Police caught up with the group at mile three on the Phillip Goldson Highway while they were travelling by bus on Tuesday. Mejia says he met the group in Benque and was taking them to Orange Walk. He remains in Immigration custody pending their ongoing investigation. In court this evening before Magistrate Hettie Mae Stewart, the group was arraigned and slapped with a single count of illegal entry. They have been identified as seventy year old Damaso Herrera, his two daughters, Ada Xiomara Herrera Cerrato, a student and Mirian Herrera Serrato along with their cousin, Keilin Vanessa Orellana Escobar and a friend, Odilia Cruz. All pleaded guilty and were fined one thousand dollars each or in default six months in prison. They could not pay the fine and were escorted to the Belize Central Prison. A removal order was granted by Magistrate Stewart and the group was told that they would be sent back home after they serve their six- month prison term period or paid the fine.
How is it that they always capture the illigal Spanish and they never seem to capture all the illigal blacks coming into this country ill tell you why this pm and gov. Are bigots that’s why now there are thousands of illigal Africans Haitians and Jamaicans in this country and not one not even one have been sent back home.

Kudos to the immigration police for an excellent job in rounding up the poor illegal Hondurans. Now, can we get an encore with the rounding up of illegal Indians, Chinese, Africans and Guatemalans living in Belize?

what? A naturalized Honduran national aided & abetted their entry? Cancel his nationality, lock him up along with them and at the end of their jail term, deport him too. That’s what would happen to him in the US.
