Recovered from injuries, Santi Castillo ready to ride again
Among those who attended the Prime Minister’s press conference this morning, was the Minister of State, Santino Castillo. Castillo was involved in a cycling accident on the George Price Highway on June fourth and had to be hospitalized for a fractured rib, a broken collar bone and punctured lungs. He successfully underwent surgery and is out of the woods but the fifty-seven year old veteran cyclist says he will soon be back on his bicycle.
Santino Castillo, Injured in Cycling Mishap
“High altitude none at all for two months…doctor’s orders. I had a rib number six which punctured it. I broke two of my fingers, one which had to be re-tenderized so to speak and of course the collarbone. But truth be told, due to my healthy condition, I don’t drink and I don’t smoke, I am actually out sooner than the doctor’s expected and I expect it to continue.”

“Will you ride again?”
Santino Castillo
“Bwai Jules, I will ride again, but I have to evaluate if it will be just for exercise…this happened racing and when you race chances for this type of injury are greatly increased. We were sprinting at thirty-six, thirty-seven miles per hour and all hell broke loose when I touched the rider’s wheel in front of my trying to pass in for the victory. So I might have to just do it for the health cause because at fifty-seven I can’t take wah next lick like this bwai.”
