Caught on camera: Cayo cops flip suspect on head in truck
Amateur video of a police apprehension in San Ignacio on Saturday at around four pm has made the rounds of Facebook and has resulted in somewhat mixed reactions. The video shows officers escorting an individual toward a police mobile, and then shows the person being placed none too gently into the back of the pickup via an involuntary somersault. The video is taken from some distance away and does not clearly relay what happened prior to the acrobatics, nor is there any audio of what was said between the officers and the individual. Today, News Five contacted the second in command of the San Ignacio Police Formation, Inspector Reymundo Reyes, who provided some of the official details. He told us that the apprehension involved the search of a bus, where they found a resident of Ontario Village, Raymond Arthurs, seated with a knapsack directly above his head. Police searched the knapsack and found what later weighed in as seventy-eight grams of cannabis. After being told by persons on the bus that the knapsack belonged to Arthurs, Police attempted to detain him and he allegedly resisted arrest. They managed to handcuff him and get him out of the bus, but Inspector Reyes says he refused to get into the back of the pickup and started resisting again. The tailgate of the pickup could not open, so officers helped Arthurs into the back, and that’s what you saw in the video. As to the method of placement into the pickup, Reyes told News Five that they are aware of the video and are investigating, but he pointed out that the video does not present an accurate picture of the entire apprehension including the suspect resisting arrest. Raymond Arthurs is currently detained pending charges for the drugs found in the knapsack.
This is ridicilous what the news bring on these days!
First we rant and rage about the crime situation then we put on bull stories like this
I guess what this news cast wanted is for them to take him for icecream before he was taken to the station then get some pillows and sheets from the San Ignacio Hotel to make him comfortable!
Cool!! Why wasnt it video taped? Worth the laugh
Finally there is evidence of Police brutality.
Crime or not the Police has no rite to treat any individual like that. They do not realize what they could have caused to that individual. YES IT SCREAMS POLICE BRUTALITY! the police officers need to be trained on how to handle people upon arrest WHAT IF THEY BROKE THAT GUYS NECK did they not consider that? For the past few years all we have been seeing police abusing power, and abusing members of society in all ways and forms INCLUDING CHILDREN. ITS SAD that nothing is never done about this that is exactly why they continue. People end up dead in cases of POLICE BRUTALITY yet its a topic that is often ignored COME ON BELIZE ARE WE GOING TO WAIT TILL IT HAPPENS TO US or our love ones to have an opinion? They don’t realize by provoking people with their nonsense will lead to BIGGER CRIMES …YET they ask the public for help in doing their jobs and wonder why they get no cooperation when they don’t.
That’s how they operate… you can’t ask them anything they don’t even read your right to you again.. I bet half of them don’t even remember it… but if you talk to the prime minister he well say we win election…. gangster squad
i wouldn’t budge for this video rather than lol, since we want to get the scums of society so i don’t feel it as brutality, if you live a good civilian life nobody will treat you as such, BUT if you break the law then what do you expect, and if you resist then they won’t treat you like such video.
police brutality come on resist arrest … come on what the cops to do carry him like a baby .. they did it gently first he didnt want to .. looks like he likes it rough .. good work San Ignacio police …
If you treat Police with respect, they will treat you with respect.
If you are hard with Police, expect to be treated the same.
