Toledo in direct path of TD2

Wil Maheia

The path of tropical depression two takes it squarely over the Toledo District. The advisory from NEMO stated that the Boom Creek Road in Toledo was under four feet of water. The maximum sustained winds were up to be thirty-five miles per hour.  And though warnings were issued from NEMO, the south, according to PGTV’s Wil Maheia it was relatively stable today.

“From this morning, I think just shortly after seven o’clock, it started raining and it has been a constant rain throughout the day. It is not like a heavy rain, but it is just constant rain. Between yesterday morning and this time, I’m looking at the rain gauge right now and we have close to four inches. So it is not a heavy; it is just a constant rain.”

“Okay, the ministry’s release also points it out to flooding in particular part of PG. It says that the road is under four feet of water. Have you been able to locate that area?”

Via Phone: Wil Maheia

“I have not been able to locate that area. I drove to the Boom Creek Road almost a mile out of town on the Boom Creek Road and that road is definitely not flooded. I drove in the  Indianville area, the drains were recently clean so no flooding in that area as well. So I believe that what they are talking about is Amado Creek which is very close to Boom Creek Village. But as far is Punta Gorda is concerned, the parts we drove to which are the areas that are prone to flooding is Indianville and the Boom Creek Road itself up to Hicatee Cottages and there was absolutely no flooding there.”

Jose Sanchez

“Are you seeing people taking the necessary precautions because of the expected increase in winds that was issued in the second advisory?”

Via Phone: Wil Maheia

“Umm no, we drove around town and we saw people going about their business as usual; nothing of the extraordinary, no extra precaution or anything like that. I believe what happened to most PG people, because of the type of rain that’s falling, it is the typical June rain. Unless they are listening to you guys, they are not taking it seriously here. I don’t see no body boarding up or taking any extra precaution.”

We’ll have more on tropical depression number two in the weather report that is coming up later in the newscast.
