Court says man who delivered wood with expired permit is innocent

A man accused of removing a forest product without a valid permit, has been acquitted of the charges. In February, Shannon Borland was hauling seventy-two pieces of Botan logs from Lucky Strike Village for Amin Awe. Borland was instructed to get the license from the gate of the premises, but the driver had no clue that Awe’s license had expired. In the court today, Prosecutor Sergeant Clinton Magdaleno called the arresting officer, Mathias Cholum, and Forest Officer, Adonai Blanco, to testify. Both men testified that Borland did not have a valid permit to be in possession of the logs.  When Magistrate Adolph Lucas Junior asked if Borland would have been in contravention of the law if he had a valid permit in someone else’s name, Blanco said, “No.” Magistrate Lucas later concluded that Borland was not guilty.
