Court rules no sex in carnal knowledge case
In the Supreme Court, a jury of five women and four men acquitted twenty-one year old Maxwell Wade of two counts of carnal knowledge. Wade was accused of having sex on two occasions with a twelve year old minor. The Ladyville resident was charged after it was alleged that he had sexual intercourse with the minor three years ago, in April of 2010. Earlier today, after three and a half hours of deliberation, the nine member jury unanimously decided that Wade was not guilty of both counts. The girl testified last week and told the court that sometime between April first and thirtieth, she caught a Ladyville bus and travelled to Wade’s home where they had sex. In his defense, Wade denied having sex with the young girl, but did concede that he agreed for her to come over to his house where they watched TV. Wade swore from the box that neither he nor the minor removed any items of clothing and and no intercourse occurred. Wade was represented by attorney, Bryan Neal, while Kaysha Grant prosecuted on behalf of the D.P.P.’s office.
