Customs Officer busted with unaccustomed goods
A van loaded with uncustomed goods was busted over the weekend. According to the police, the bust took place on Saturday morning when Operation U-Turn, along with a police mobile patrol, intercepted a Plymouth van on Antelope Street in Belize City. A customs officer and two others were travelling in the vehicle and in a preliminary search; police came across a number of cases of liquor. The van and its passengers were escorted to the station where a thorough search yielded fifteen cases of Absolut Vodka and one case of Grey Goose Vodka; all in all eighteen bottles of Vodka were found. This morning, police charged customs officer Rondale Bailey of Hattieville and his sibling, Devon Bailey, as well as Carlton Humes with acquiring Possession of Uncustomed Goods and Recklessly Concern in Carrying Uncustomed Goods. The price of the vodka was placed at fifteen thousand eight hundred and sixty-two dollars, so the trio was charged three times its value which means they have to pay forty seven thousand five hundred and eighty six dollars.
