Rafael Perez still on the run, but has been revoked as Assemblies of God pastor
Rafael Perez, the pastor of Zion Ministries Assemblies of God Church in Orange Walk Town, is still nowhere to be found. Perez has been hiding out since August second, when officials from his church approached him with serious questions. There are allegations from various women that they paid Perez money after he promised to take them to the US to better their lives. That trip never materialized, and some of those women also accuse Perez of soliciting sexual favors from them. General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Fellowship Abel Reymundo says he is shocked at the reports they received, and have been trying to find Perez since August fifth.
Pastor Abel Reymundo, General Superintendent, Assemblies of God
“Immediately as I got the information, I went to Orange Walk and met with him the same day; the second of August. And we started to have some discussion with him about the issue. And we couldn’t finish the discussion—that was on a Friday—and I told him that we will be back on the Monday. So we went down there on the Monday, but when we got to the church building and the church pastoral house, he was nowhere to be found. And we found out that he is gone. The reports was, ladies that came to see me at my office gave me this report; that he was going to take them to the states and he was charging two hundred dollars. And the time was running and running and they were not seeing the reality of the trip going to the states. They were going for six months and they wanted to see if they can get their money back. And one of them told me that he was asking for something more from them and that was our concern. And we don’t tolerate those kinds of pastors doing those kinds of business of taking people to the states. So we got on the ground as quick as possible. I’m very shocked, I’m very surprised and as I said; that is something that we don’t accept at our fellowship. From that day that we meet, we canceled his credentials with the Assemblies of God. He is no longer an Assemblies of God Pastor. We had a system in the Assemblies of God that those pastors, we discipline them. When I call it discipline, I mean we cut them as pastors and we deal with their spiritual life. So we are still looking around for him, but we cannot find him nowhere around. So I woulda say next is that we are done with him because he is gone so that means that he doesn’t want to deal with us.”
According to Pastor Reymundo, Perez also made off with over one thousand dollars, which he was holding in his post as district treasurer. Reymundo says he has issued instructions for a complaint to be made to the Police concerning the missing money.
