Alleged sex scandal at Western Regional Hospital involving mental patient

News Five has been investigating reports of an apparent sex scandal at the Western Regional Hospital. There are allegations that a driver was engaged in a sexual relationship with a patient in the psychiatric ward. Furthermore, it is claimed that he was allowed to do so by nurses in the unit, and that the patient was even allowed to leave the ward to visit her family. News Five has been able to confirm the identity of the patient, but we will withhold a name at this time. We will say that she is undergoing psychiatric evaluation to determine whether she is fit to stand trial for a major crime. The assertions at the Western Regional Hospital involve a serious breach of protocols and criminal negligence. But Hospital Administrator Bernadette Nicholson says that pending the findings of an investigation which is ongoing, they are just allegations.

“Yes indeed it’s allegations as you said and we’ve been investigating these allegations and so far we have suspended a driver so that our investigations can continue. The important thing here is the patient’s privacy and we need to protect that. However in our investigations we found out that some protocols were breached and we are continuing our investigations to look into this matter. So far we’ve found out that there has been no evidence of any sexual activities going on. The safety and integrity and confidentiality of our patients are very high on our priority here at the Western Regional Hospital and we do all we can to protect those for our patients. We’ve been working with the US Air Force to construct a new wing to the psychiatric unit that will help us to facilitate more controls and more safety and more services to our psychiatric patients. We will be constructing a new wing to the Western Regional Hospital to facilitate this.”

Nicholson was tight-lipped, but adamant that there has been no evidence of any sexual contact between the driver and the patient. Furthermore, the only information we could get is that the matter is being taken very seriously. Pending the outcome of the investigations, there has been new staff placed in the psychiatric ward.
