B.D.F. soldiers detained in an early morning brawl
Orange Walk Police are mum about an incident which occurred in the early hours of Wednesday morning. It involved B.D.F., Police and civilians and could have turned ugly, but fortunately was diffused. News Five has been able to confirm that at around three o’clock that morning, two B.D.F. soldiers were detained and escorted to the Orange Walk Police Station. Today B.D.F. Chief of Staff, Raymond Shepherd, told us that the two soldiers were off duty and celebrating when they had an altercation with a group of civilians. Police responded to the scuffle and broke it up, which necessitated one of the policemen hitting a B.D.F. soldier in the head with his baton. One of the soldiers was also reportedly cut by a knife wielded by one of the civilians. According to Shepherd, the two soldiers were taken to the Police Station for questioning and were released about a half an hour after, at four a.m. The two officers in question were allegedly under the influence of alcohol and are currently the subjects of an internal B.D.F. investigation. If they are found guilty of wrongdoing, Shepherd says they will be reprimanded. Today reports surfaced that after the arrest other soldiers armed with M-sixteens and M-fourteens visited the Orange Walk Police Station and demanded the release of the detained men. Today Shepherd categorically denied those rumors.
