…And also highlights landmark case of Caleb Orosco vs G.O.B.
A highlight in the Prime Minister’s Independence Speech relates to a landmark case in the Supreme Court for which a decision is pending. It is the case of Caleb Orosco versus the Government of Belize in which the executive director of the United Belize Advocacy Movement, UNIBAM, is challenging Section Fifty-three of the Criminal Code. While arguments on both sides of the matter, to have repealed that part of the law which criminalizes sodomy among consensual same-sex partners, have been presented, a ruling by Chief Justice Kenneth Benjamin is yet to be handed down. Despite being named an interested party in the test case, the Churches have, to a certain degree, been at odds with the government, primarily over the issue of the revised gender policy. Both issues have polarized the church and the state. The prime minister used his Independence Day address to broach the topic of the church’s right to spread its position of what is right and wrong as it pertains to homosexuality.
Prime Minister Dean Barrow
“We cannot afford for Government and the Churches to be at odds. The filigreed chain that links the two is a proud part of the national ornamentation, and it cannot be allowed to break. Government will therefore fully respect the right of the churches to propagate their understanding of the morality, or immorality, of homosexuality. But what Government cannot do is to shirk its duty to ensure that all citizens, without exception, enjoy the full protection of the law. After all, the Belize Constitution that affirms the supremacy of God also affirms fundamental rights and the dignity of the individual human being. That same Constitution further declares that all persons are equal before the law and entitled to non discrimination; to freedom from interference with their privacy; and to freedom from unlawful attacks on their honor and reputation.”
DIANE Elson is known as a pioneer in her field who has managed to keep ‘women’s gender” alive as a legitimate issue for more than four decades. She was instrumental in getting industrialized countries to donate a percentage of their money to help women who were suffering from having to do heavy work under real hardship conditions. She said, Such as? ”Like we’ve got to be worried about the amount of unpaid time low-income women spend when they have no water or electricity, when they have no roads and so much of their time is spent on this heavy back-breaking labour.
She is now known as the Emeritus Professor at the University of Essex. However this organization today is now hijacked by the homosexuals, and the women’s agenda is trying to pass the things they do as, a human right issue! The Churches have not been at odds with the government, primarily over the issue of the revised gender policy. The people of this country can see where this gender policy is heading, and are saying that, not the government, the PM should not pass this policy. We did not elect him to do that, and he did not campaign to us before election on any such policy, that will change our whole family structure and life. We see sections of the gender policy as anti family.
To decide to have sex with a woman is a choice. If a man decide to have sex with a man, its a choice. If a woman decide to live with another woman, its a choice. If a man decide to kill another man, its a choice. If a man decide to rape little boys, its a choice. If a man decide to steal, its a choice. These things have been with us since the inception of the human race, but that does not make these thing a HUMAN RIGHT or make it right! To not be able to change our race, is not a choice, its a diversity. We honor and respect DIVERSIITY PM, but we cannot give a SPECIAL group SPECIAL rights above all others, since we currently enjoy equal rights under our constitution. Stop play with words, because you are insulting us by thinking we are totally dumb.
