Arthur Saldivar hands over bundle of nationality and passport documents to police

One man, however, who has a bundle of documents which were purportedly assigned for destruction, is attorney Arthur Saldivar. The documents include dozens of completed application forms, as well as nationality certificates and Saldivar was scheduled to call a press conference on Wednesday to unveil more evidence of wrongdoing at the Immigration and Nationality Department.  But, instead of the scheduled conference, the outspoken legal mind proceeded to put on display a myriad of paperwork bearing the signature of Penner; files which are believed to be missing from the department.  Those documents, presumably, will aid the authorities in an official investigation into irregularities at the passport office.  This afternoon Saldivar briefly fielded questions from the media before surrendering the bundle to the Belize Police Department.

“It’s out of my hands now Roland.  It’s out of my hands now.  It’s time for it to go where it needs to go.  The public has been given the information and it’s within the public domain.  Now it’s for the authorities to do what they must do but it’s out of my hands now.  I am here to support the party and the party leader in relation to the issues relating to the recall and the other issues affecting the country right now, relating to what the prime minister brought forward in his press conference and ultimately this is simply to tie up all that has transpired and to basically get rid of the documents, put it to the right persons and ensure that the public has the ability to determine where it goes from here.”

“Why did you go this route?  Why didn’t you share it with the media first and then with the authorities?  We may never see these again.”

“I did, I did.  It’s on Facebook man, go on Facebook, it’s there.  All the documents are on Facebook.”

Reporter

“But many would say that it’s because of your reports in the news that we are here thus far.  Why weren’t you at the head table or why weren’t you highlighted in the press conference?”

Arthur Saldivar

“I was at the head table.  In terms of me speaking, I had a court matter today so I was not in a position to do anything other than support the party leader.  Originally it was intended for me to speak but I am here supporting.”

“What do you say is the consequential evidence of the files produced on the table?”

Arthur Saldivar

“Well the facts speak for themselves Giovanni.  Ultimately it simply reinforces the fact that a person who had no legal authority signed documents that he ought not to have signed and he did so under the auspices of the prime minister.  So the prime minister in his position has committed a constitutional wrong.  He acted outside the powers of the constitution.”

The Prime Minister at his press conference said that he believes the documents that Saldivar has will by now be tainted.
