Belizean woman caught in Chetumal pick-pocketing

Shirley Arnold

A Belizean woman is currently detained in neighbouring Chetumal after she was caught attempting to shoplift four bottles of liquor. According to media reports in Chetumal, thirty-four year old Shirley Arnold was caught on video surveillance at Chedraui Supermarket at the Plaza de Las Americas as she placed the rum in her bag. When she attempted to leave the supermarket, the security walked in on her and checked her bag from where the bottles of rum were found and removed. As soon as she was handed over to the police, another store, Melody, reported that Arnold had also stolen numerous clothing items from the store.  Her bag was checked again and the clothes confiscated. Arnold has been charged for theft and remains in custody.
