Eight-month pregnant inmate pleas to be released from prison
Thirty-six year old Jaziba Nasser is eight months pregnant, but she finds herself behind bars since last Thursday. Nasser is remanded along with her husband, businessman Nazim Nasser and their two children Jamil and Hilal, following the discovery of six corroded bullets inside their residence in San Pedro Town. The family was jointly charged for keeping unlicensed ammunition. Jaziba, News Five understands, is not doing too well given her delicate condition which is compounded by the fact that their fourteen year old child has been left to take care of a six year old sibling. A meeting of the management of the Belize Central Prison was convened this afternoon during which this particular issue was discussed. We are reliably informed that Nasser has retained the services of attorney Dickie Bradley to appeal for her release. By law, persons found in possession of an unlicensed firearm or ammunition are held without bail for commission of the particular offenses. In this case, consideration for her release is being sought due to Jaziba’s physical condition, as well as the fact that two minors have been deserted in the wake of the family’s detention. The Nassers are scheduled to return to court on November twenty-ninth.
Release her under surveillance…
While the bigger fish swim free… huh
Terrorist!
Our gun laws are crazy, they make no sense just put too much power in the hands of the Police. I say let us amend the gun law to state that a repeat offender doesn’t get bail or somebody with a criminal record doesn’t get bail. Let us stop this nonsense.
What is wrong with this country? Imprison for of six corroded bullets! Pregnant! The people that killing each others with the guns shot are left to roam free.
hope the Islam/Muslim brother hood don’t take this too hard cause soon we’ll be reading bomb racketing some gov. buildings and guess why, because of stupid laws that don’t make sense.
I agree with you BZEYOUTH.
This is why corruption continues in our country.. Police always try do things to people they could easliy take in to jail..if this lady dies or something happens Belizean authorities will get more in trouble as these are not belizean people and worst we dont know who they are.. We got to be careful when dealing with people from the east if we dont know there purpose here
Imagine someone passing and throwing a bullet into your yard, 3 months letter Police finds the corroded bullet and you get arrest along with your whole family da lone rass ….. Why the police no go search the gang member they have guns
She can be kept in prison just make sure she gets the necessary treatment every day and that her other children are taken care of. A pregnant woman cannot run too far or too fast so she can be treated much differently from the general population. Just live a life that is above the law and this will not happen.
She totally deserves to stay in prison. Should have thought about it before! And if they absolutely require a gun, a license is not such a difficult thing to obtain. There’s a reason they didn’t have a license . . .
She need to be out of hell at this moment, we respect human rights, her rights are being violated
PM should put his wife in the position, so he can feel what this lady is felling. woman and children
what is is wife all about?
