San Ignacio Police busts vehicle with 21 pounds of weed

Just after six p.m. on Tuesday, the San Ignacio Police searched a vehicle on the George Price Highway in front of the Ministry of Works in Santa Elena Town. The police found the equivalent of twenty-one point five pounds of cannabis. The drug was found in a black garbage bag in the trunk of the car.  The vehicle was driver by Lionel Smith of Belmopan who was accompanied by Lucette Lisbey of Santa Elena, Cayo. Police have formally charged both Smith and Lisbey with drug trafficking. The couple was arraigned in the San Ignacio Town Magistrate court today; they pleaded not guilty and were offered bail at the sum of three thousand five hundred dollars. The case was adjourned for February eleventh, 2014.
