P.U.P. Deputy Leader calls for recall process to begin for Belize Rural North
The P.U.P. has reached the threshold to trigger the recall mechanism in Cayo Northeast. In fact, the party has exceeded the threshold and continues to gather signatures. Meanwhile, Elvin Penner is still sitting in his government ride enjoying the perks of his position, with no indication if he will resign. While the recall process for Penner simmers on the stove, the P.U.P. is also setting its sights elsewhere. Today P.U.P. Deputy Leader Julius Espat confirmed that Minister of State Edmond Castro is in the crosshairs. The P.U.P. is planning to initiate another recall in Belize Rural North stemming from the latest immigration scandal.
Julius Espat, Deputy Leader, P.U.P.
“We have collected what we consider the necessary signatures for Cayo Northeast. What we are doing right now is preparing the vetting which is to make sure that everything matches—cross your T’s, dot your I’s—and that should be completed by next week. And then we will hand it over to the party leader who will give us the final instructions to hand it to the governor general. In the meantime, we are urging our brothers in Belize Rural North to start that mechanism and activate their side. So that is the second move that we are doing. The People’s United Party is doing all in its power within the law to make sure that we show our dissatisfaction with what the government is doing. We now need and we are calling the Belizean people to join us to make sure that we show our dissatisfaction with the way our country is being managed.”

“How many signatures have you all gotten overall for Cayo Northeast?”
Julius Espat
“There are over nineteen hundred and there are still some volunteers on the ground. So by the end of the week we will be over the two thousand and far beyond that.”
There shouldn’t have been any recall mechanism. It should have been automatic, you screwed up and you are out!
I totally agree that Penner should be recalled and something done…
In the village council elections he did not do too good but on the other hand the PUP need to pick its fights.
Edmund Castro did very well in the village council elections and won handsomely in the last elections – maybe we need to part ways with Arthur to get better results.
With Arthur Saldivar hogging up the spotlight this will NOT work!
It is a dam shame and anyone who violates the trust entrusted in them by the people should be recalled; what is worse is the other crowd that are now calling for Castro’s head did similar crap while in office; is there one good person in elected politics in Belize? Is there recall poloitically motivated?
Wow dis a good time fi mi fellow belizeans to rise up and show unu strength. Out with dis ya stingy tiefin bunch. Unu line up quick fast anh hurry fi recall castro. Show di govt unu no weh tolerate more of their incompetence plus tiefin self.
