Pregnant Muslim woman granted bail
Tonight, we can report that a female inmate at the Belize Central Prison is home on bail. Thirty-six year old Jaziba Nasser is an eight months pregnant woman who was incarcerated last Thursday along with her husband, Nazim and their two teenage sons, Jamil and Hilal. Their arrests and subsequent remand came following the discovery of six corroded bullets inside their residence in San Pedro Town. Given her advanced pregnancy and her delicate condition, the management of the Belize Central Prison and attorney Dickie Bradley lodged an appeal for her release early this week. The bail application was heard this morning before Justice Troadio Gonzalez and Jaziba was ordered to be released from prison and join her young child that was left alone back in San Pedro. News Five spoke with Bradley today about the release of his client.

“Because it is a firearms, ammunition matter, the law ties the hands of the magistrate who cannot give bail for three months in the first instance. And so in fact, Misses Jaziba was taken to prison along with her family and she has a daughter who is still in San Pedro and then there is a business which is basically abandoned. In any event, I received a call from the prison authorities to say that in the processing of Misses Jaziba, they learnt that she was in an advance state of pregnancy; they learnt that she needed a special diet; she needed regular medical attention. They were concerned because they have a general practitioner, but that kind of draw down on their resources, they can’t provide that kind of attention. The medical condition alerted the court authorities and the honorable chief justice that this is something that required special attention. So you will see that we got in those matters Monday and Tuesday and yesterday evening I was informed that I should make myself available for a bail application this morning. So that application is made on the fact that one; the whole family was swooped out of the home because the law is that everybody that is present when firearms or ammunitions are found; they have to be taken to a court. This morning, the judge offered bail in the sum of eight thousand dollars. She has to surrender her passports and travel documents. She is not to leave this jurisdiction without the prior consent of the Supreme Court. The family will have to pay the government of Belize for every document we file in the supreme court and so they will pay and have these stamped with the seal of the court. That is the instruction to the Marshall that a judge has ordered that once the bail and the conditions are met, the person can then be released from prison. So that is happening as we are speaking. I will leave the precinct of the court and the family will then follow up. There will be a Marshall who will accompany the family and those who are signing a surety for the bail or preparing their land papers. And then because of the need to release her as early as possible, we have alerted the prison so that she knows the good news and so that her husband and children can know that their mom is going home to their sister. And then she will also have to sign that bail because it is she who is given bail and must know the conditions. And she will be released, god willing, in the next hour or so.”
Apparently Muslims are being abused/incarcerated all over the World. In Belize we have some of the most antiquated/unfair laws. Imagine, arresting a decent pregnant Muslim sister for some old rusted ammo. How in the name of justice can this be justified in any form shape or fashion. Allah (swt) is very real and not sleeping. “Surely he does not sleep or slumber he acts/moves in his own time”.
Sad story. But I have a concern about how all these Lebanese are flooding Belize. How are they able to get permanent residence so easily and frequently. And why are they choosing Belize to settle. historically wherever they go, they have a negative impact on the community. They are like cockroaches once they get in you cant get rid of them. I am thinking as the US Government is, that they do business on behalf of whatever tribe they belong to back home to kill each other (Consider the recent unsolved murders of several Lebanese in Belize this past year). . They don’t contribute or assimilate with their host country, they are tribal and are only here to suck the life money from Belizeans. Perhaps incidents like this, although unfortunate, will convinve them to move on to other countries or go back home to their beloved Lebanon.
Tangentially, I do not agree with the Belize law that when drugs or guns are found in the home , everyone who lives there gets locked up even the unborn, Stupidnes.
