Police look for a murder weapon in a grave in Lucky Strike

Yo Creek resident Jorge Blanco was brutally murdered as he drove home through Sand Hill at around midday last Friday.  Blanco was with three other persons when he was shot in the head, as the delivery truck he was driving stopped at a speed-bump near the junction of the Maskall Road. The other men in the truck were Johann Penner and his sons Abraham and Gerhard; the owners of the business. They were robbed of nine thousand six dollars before the killers made their getaway. On Wednesday, three men were charged for Blanco’s murder – Alton Bailey, Roger Hernandez and Roger Middleton. A fourth man, Frank Elijio, was charged with robbery, handling stolen goods, conspiracy to commit robbery and drug trafficking. Over the weekend, Police with canine support searched Elijio’s property in Lucky Strike, which is about ten miles off the highway on the Maskall Road. They allegedly found two thousand three hundred dollars in Elijio’s truck. Today, the Police were back, and this time they were breaking open a grave on the property. Elijio’s girlfriend Karima Robinson was there, and says that the Police didn’t bother to explain what they intended to do. News Five got to the scene this afternoon, but Police refused to let us get close, and even refused to let Robinson speak to us. After we left we managed to contact Robinson by phone.

“All ah that dehn mi deh di fool with; even the ash dehn mi di fool with. Because the body dehn burn the body and ih look like the bones mi in there too so ih look like the bones mi di knock side to side ina di box, so dehn feel like dah mi di whole box and open the ash.”

“Dehn had any reason fi open that grave. For example, if dehn had fresh cement on it or something? Anybody touch dah grave recently?”

“I di explain to them that dah lady dead about four months ago and that grave cement and everything the day of the funeral. Dah noh like dehn just put di thing there and the people weh live yah fi fix it. the people dehn fix it, themselves.”

We contacted Ladyville Police, but were unable to confirm if Police were looking for the murder weapon. We were told only that the investigation is ongoing. According to Robinson, Police did not find anything in the grave and left at around four. She told News Five that the money which was found in Frank Elijio’s truck on Saturday was money he got from his parents to fix the truck. She also claims that Elijio could not have been involved in the murder since they were together in the house when they heard the flash news last Friday. And if there’s any bright spot in all this…the Police did start repairing the damage they did to the grave, and promised to return to finish the job.
