Missing Dangriga teen returns home

Hansel Garcia

A Dangriga family is tonight breathing a sigh of relief that their loved one is alive. Seventeen-year-old Hansel Garcia had disappeared some three weeks ago, following a threat on his life in the southern town. And while the family had assumed the worst, Garcia got in contact with them on Saturday morning, stating that he was hiding in Belmopan. Garcia’s mother, Indira Martinez, spoke to News Five today via phone to speak on the good news. But while she is happy that her son is alive, she says that she is still in fear of his life. Also, since then Martinez says that she has suffered post traumatic shock and her speech has been affected.

Via Phone: Indira Martinez, Mother of Hansel Garcia

“According to what he said to the police in Belmopan and what he said to me, a friend of his had came to inform him that they are planning to go pick him up before day morning to go murder him. And that is when a teacher that knows the family took him out of here early the following morning.”

Duane Moody

“So he was just in hiding to protect himself?”

Via Phone: Indira Martinez

Indira Martinez

“Yes, yes. He went missing three weeks ago and I thought that he was dead due to the nature of the incident that had taken place because the neighbor had threatened him before. Like I said, if I had confidence in the police, I would have been speaking better. I can’t even talk good. I went to the doctor and he said I suffered a post traumatic shock due to the incident. I said to you this morning that I still kinda have a little fear that maybe a while after; they may try to attack him again.  We did make an official report to the Belmopan police station and my son went back to complete lodging the complaint; he and his dad went back today to higher officials.”

Duane Moody

“How do you feel now knowing that your son is alive?”

Via Phone: Indira Martinez

“Well Mister Moody, I can’t thank god enough. I am happy that he is alive and my heart is a bit relief. I can at least eat a little now. Maybe I have not sit down and eat an entire plate of food as yet since, but I can eat and I can at least sleep now. I am happy and I want to thank god and those who came to support me during my time of distress. There are a lot of people who have gone missing and some of them turn up dead. And some of them turn up alive and maybe a week or two or months after, they still murder them. So I will follow it up until the last. I will not let it go because I am not only helping myself, I am helping other people who don’t have faith and trust in the police.”

Why would the news people print so much information on the location of this young man. The people who wants him dead now know where he is hiding. This is not smart, the only information necessary was that he was alive.

This poor mother does not have a clue she may have just help the “killers to be”, find her child. Belize people have to learn these days you can’t even trust your neighbor, sad but true.

IF THIS WOMAN WANT KEEP HER SON ALIVE PLEASE NO PUT YOUR CONFIDENCE IN POLICE, DONT MAKE THEM FOOL YOU AND SPILL YOUR GUTD BECAUSE WHEN YOU NEED THEM THATS WHEN THEY ARE DRUNK AND BEHAVING DISORDERLY CLAIMIMG THEY ARE ABOVE THE LAW. IN REALITY THEY ARE, REALLY, DO YOU THINK POLICE WILL ARREST OR RAT ON A POLICE BEFORE HE GOES TO COMMIT A CRIME OR TELL THE GANGS WHO IS GIVING THEM INFORMATION? COME ON. THEY ARE ALSO ANIMALS WHEN IT COMES TO ARRESTING PEOPLE OR EVEN TALKING TO PPL, SOME OF THEM CANT EVEN WRITE OR SPELL THIER NAMES. I TELL YOU I SO SORRY FOR THE ONES IN THE THE FORCE WHO HAVE TO DEAL WITH THIER FELLO OFFICERS WHO FIT THIS CATEGORY. LET ME DIE IF AM BEING ATTACKED OR BETTER YET I HOPE THE KILLER GIVES ME A LAST CALL TO FAMILY TO SAY BYE, NOT TO THE POLICE FOR HELP BECAUSE ITS A WASTE OF TIME AND CREDIT AND THE KILLER WOULD NEED TO MOVE ON TO THE NEXT VICTIM.

so i ask, if everybody know that they want to kill the boy and even the boy know he has enemies, why the police no go ketch them and investigate. Or they will wate till he is kill and then they will go searching for the killers and after a time that they can find them, they will say “Amen” Case under investigation and the boy is dead so what!

  6. Al says:

I was thinking the same thing. I was also thinking that maybe they specifically mentioned a place just to throw off his enemies from where he is truly hiding. Lets hope this is so. Imagine, you have to run and hide when people threaten your life because their is no faith in the police. These are the things that make lawful peaceful men think ILL.

AL… I cud’nt agree mre with wat u said, these are the tings that u as a law abiding citizen take matter in ur own hands an get ur own satisfaction, then they will charge u but when u needed the police help the treat u like ur the criminal,. Our country is so messed up when it cums to dealing with the police, if they are literally robbing u on camera an nuthin cums out of it, wat mre do we need to see to not trust dem.
