Guatemalan national charged with exposing his person
A Guatemalan national charged with exposing his person in public and failure to comply with the conditions of his visitor’s permit will spend the next eight months in jail. Forty-nine year old Edwin Morales pleaded guilty to both charges in separate appearances on Monday and today before Magistrate Hettie Mae Stuart. On Monday, he was fined two hundred dollars to be paid immediately and was unable to pay and he was sentenced to two months in jail. Today, an additional six months was tacked on for the immigration violation. After he has served the sentences, he will be deported to Guatemala. On Friday, Morales, who resides in Melchor de Mencos, Peten, came to the western border and got a two-day pass which allowed him to go only as far as Belmopan. But he was detained by police in Ladyville when he got out of a vehicle and began to urinate at the side of the road. As a result, he was charged with exposing his person. When police investigated his immigration status, they found that he had violated the conditions of his pass.
