The Belize Police Department has issued a wanted poster for twenty-six year old Justin West, a resident of Lord’s Bank who is believed to have fled to the United States. West is believed to have been the mastermind in a long-term financial scam which netted one hundred and eighty-six thousand dollars from the Radisson Fort George Hotel and Marina. According to Police reports, the scam was discovered after Radisson C.E.O. Jim Scott noticed rising costs in the Food and Beverages Department and commissioned an internal audit. That audit found that a total of sixty checks were generated for false invoices. The Police were called in and a subsequent investigation revealed that West, who was an accountant at the hotel, had allegedly conspired with other persons to steal money from his workplace. Last week Thursday, Police arrested twenty four year old Justin Lacroix and thirty-three year old Brian Myvett in connection with the missing money. Both were charged with multiple counts of uttering forced documents, claiming upon forged documents and handling stolen goods. While Police are seeking one other person we are informed is the teller who cashed the checks, Justin West has not been located. It is believed that he is now in Los Angeles, California and Police are working with their counterparts to locate him. The scam was alleged perpetrated between August 2012 and September 2013.
