Man recovers from injuries obtained while being pursued by police

Thirty-two-year-old Wilmer Nunez, a Honduran laborer of Bella Vista Village in the Stann Creek District, is tonight recovering at the K.H.M.H. from injuries he received while being pursued by police.  On Sunday evening around six-thirty, a young woman reported that Nunez threatened to kill her and two other occupants of Nuevo Amanecer Bar, as well as its proprietor.  According to the woman, Nunez, whom they believed was either intoxicated or high on drugs, left the premises and returned with a machete.  He then proceeded to break bottles inside the establishment before police responded to the scene.  Upon approaching the area, the officers met Nunez, who was wielding the machete in his right hand.  Nunez was ordered to stop but instead of doing so he continued to advance towards them in a chopping motion.  Despite a warning shot being fired, he proceeded towards the officer and that’s when he was shot in the leg.  Nunez took off running and the police followed suit.  When they caught up with him he again charged at the officers with the machete, forcing them to shoot him a second time in the other leg.  He was subsequently detained and disarmed before being transported to the Southern Regional Hospital.  Nunez has since been transferred to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he remains under police watch.

What is this “warning shot” BS? The scum bag attacked with a machete, he should have been shot dead which would have saved us a lot of money and rid the street of another POS.
