Marsha Reid found not guilty of killing her common-law-husband

Marsha Reid

Marsha Reid is the woman from Dangriga who was accused of murdering her common-law-husband, B.D.F. corporal Donovan Castillo. In the Dangriga Supreme Court this morning Reid was found not guilty by Justice Dennis Hanomansingh who tried the case as a judge sitting without a jury. Reid was accused of stabbing Castillo four times on the neck as he slept at his family house on Teacher’s Street in Dangriga. At the time, reports were that before attacking him, Reid made sure that his nephew, who was also at the house, could not call for help by locking him in a separate bedroom and taking his cell phone. Alex Reid was also convicted, on his own plea, of 10 counts of the offence of claiming upon a forged document. The trial had commenced week before last and the prosecution had called 8 witnesses and had succeeded in having a confession given by Reid admitted into evidence. Reid today changed his plea. The Crown was represented by Crown Counsel Kaysha Grant, Shanice Lovell and Portia Staine. The convict was represented by Anthony Sylvestre. Justice Lucas presided. Sentencing has been deferred to 19th December.
