Ministry of Health advices public to be cautious for any influenza
At least one person, a twenty-seven year old woman Shahera Bodden, has died of complications of H1N1. But with the flu season in full swing, the Ministry of Health today sent out an advisory to remind the public that is in heightened surveillance for any Influenza or Severe Acute Respiratory Illness. Â According to the Ministry, as of today, there are three confirmed cases of H1N1 Influenza A in Belize and five other samples that have tested positive for Influenza A have been sent on to the Caribbean and Regional Public Health Agency, CARPHA, in Trinidad and Tobago for further testing and confirmation. The Ministry clarifies that there are currently no other patients at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital with H1N1 nor any other Influenza A strain, but that it remains on alert.
