Elodio Aragon Junior resigned as Deputy Commission to pursue political career

Elodio Aragon Jr.

Earlier today when we spoke to Elodio Aragon Junior, the U.D.P. political aspirant for Orange Walk East, we also questioned him about the reports that he had been using government resources to run his campaign. Aragon was deputy commissioner of the Police Department and in line for the top job when he stepped down to run for convention. Aragon Junior says that when he resigned last November, he followed the protocol.

Elodio Aragon Jr., Former Deputy Commissioner

“If you understand how the public service works and the Belize Police Department works, you as the deputy commission must write to the Commissioner of Police tendering my resignation. After which he will put his cover letter either supporting that and that will be sent to the Ministry of National Security where the C.E.O. will then put a cover letter on that and then send that to the respective Security Services Commission and Public Service so that my departure would have been…for me to go off. That has been done.”

Duane Moody

“So it is effective.”

Elodio Aragon Jr.

“It was effective at the thirty-first of December; I ceased to be a police officer.”

The Royal Family Tradition continues in Belize Politics. It’s really hard to be a Commoner!

I understand Aragon is hedging his bets. His resignation does not take effect until AFTER he knows whether his political adventure is off to a successful start or not. IF IT IS NOT off to a good start, he has the option to reconsider resigning. Say it isn’t so.

Duane Moody, you have your sources. Why did you not ask this question point blank?? Every little bit helps to clean up this country.

  3. Belizean Pride says:

should have ask him if in any point in time has he consider that all the ABUSE OF AUTHORITY he did while being a commissioner won’t haunt his election time.
