Aragon family says land issue a smear campaign by Landy Burns

According to the Aragon family, a smear campaign was prompted from within the U.D.P. camp by the constituency caretaker; Orlando “Landy” Burns, in an effort to hurt the political career of Elodio Aragon Junior. Aragon Junior will be running against David Constanza for the spot as the U.D.P. standard bearer for the East constituency. So at this morning’s press conference, both Aragon Senior and Junior sent a clear message to Burns saying his ploy will not deter their success at the polls on Sunday.

“We all know in the East exactly where this originated. We understand and we know why this was done. I have no problem with that. I believe that at the end of the day, the people of Orange Walk East will make that decision on who they want as their standard bearer and that will be done on the second of February, which is this Sunday.”

“Mister Burns well knows that I’ve had nothing to do with it for so long, but the thing is Jules—and I will mention a little but I won’t go deep into it—Mister Burns have something wrong in his mind, noh correct, and he is campaigning for Mister Constanza and he is trying to use everything. He has timed it on the last week before—last week and this week—to do everything to get the people from the East to turn against my son here. So it is like he has…let me just go a little further. It is like he cannot accept the fact that the DPM decided to give me this land. He cannot accept that fact. He as the caretaker and running for this area supposed to have gotten it. I got it and since then he cannot forgive me for that. So he has built a vendetta against me. So he joins Constanza and wants Adrian to lose the convention so he is losing all of this to campaign. But let me say this, and I don’t want to go further than this, that if I was prepared to discuss matters of these lands here in front of it, I tell you, B.N.E. money woulda follow it and yo woulda get some P.U.P.s and Landy Burns in problem.”

So the land now goes back to the government with the intention that it be put to use as a public facility.
