B.T.L. Park to be formally opened on Valentine’s Day with a concert
Residents of Belize City are enjoying the newly rebuilt B.T.L. Park, despite its unofficial launch. Over the weekend, hundreds converged on the recreational space where they made much of its food stalls, pier and playground. While finishing touches are being added, Mayor Darrell Bradley says that it will be formally opened to the public on Valentine’s Day with a grand concert featuring Belizean artists and Reggae sensation Dwayne Stephenson. The vendors, he says, will receive further training on how to manage the volume of customers at their respective stalls.

“We’re right on track with the opening of B.T.L. Park, this is something that was averted because of the rains in December. We had a Christmas concert but it was not what we wanted so that this weekend we will be working with a launch of B.T.L. Park. The vendors are doing extremely well. We are monitoring them in terms of insuring their profitability, the viability and sustainability of their businesses. We are providing additional training to them because we are seeing that they need additional training in terms of how to man a business so that it’s successful because the crowds have just been overwhelming with them and I saw that a lot of them looked exhausted. This weekend, from four-thirty in the evening we’re going to start until twelve midnight we’ll have entertainment coming in, it’s going to be very, very nice. It’s going to be, we hope it will be bigger and better than what we did in December and everybody is invited to come out in a very safe, friendly environment. We are again working with Bowen & Bowen to partner with the activities and B.T.L. as well and our other sponsors to ensure that the park gets opened and launched and sent off in a really monumental fashion. We’re going to have Dwayne Stephenson who’s going to be performing. He’s the last, he’s the high billed artist. We also have an array of local Belizean artists who will be complimenting that, very, very similar to what had happened in December. We are going to have rides that are going to come in. Those will come in this week on Tuesday and I think it’s going to be good and everybody is invited.”
I hope it looks far better on that day that it is today
