Fantasy 5! A humble family heads home with a hefty cheque

A family from the village of San Pablo in the Orange Walk district is a quarter-million dollars richer today. This morning cane-farmer Teodulo Marin and his wife Rosalia headed down to the Fantasy Five office in Belize City and collected their hefty check. The couple does not purchase tickets every week, but on Saturday they purchased one ticket each in Orange Walk Town. He selected specific numbers while Rosalia went the easy route and purchased a quick pick. That quick pick would change their lives. Today, News Five spoke to the winners, check in hand and smiles on their faces.

“Friday, my wife gawn da Orange Walk and I tell ah I will make my list of numbers and I tell ah fu please buy it. She tell me yes. She buy it and that time she buy fu she one, the quick pick. So when Saturday play, until yesterday I check the numbers, and when I check it I see dat I lose and she win. In my house I am seeing the TV but in my house the TV noh work soh good and from Monday I tell ah I will not check it right now until I have wah lee chance so yesterday I sit down and check the TV and when I see it I write it on a paper, then I get the ticket and I check it one by one…I check it two times and lef it so, put it in my pocket. Later I put the TV again and I see it, then I see the paper, then tek out the ticket and see it and its true, then I go to my wife and I tell she ‘yu get rich!”

“I will build my house and spend with my sons because they go da college, and with the rest, we will plant more cane because we are small cane farmers.So we think we will plant more cane and get more quota and live.”

After taxes the family will walk away with two hundred and forty-seven thousand, seven hundred and seventy five dollars.
