B.T.L. Park opens tonight with a bang

While vendors at Mr. Ham’s are busy trying to realize their sales target, officials from the Belize City Council were on hand at BTL Park this afternoon to oversee the final touches being added for tonight’s mega-event.  The park, after several months of construction, is being launched to much fanfare.  With a lineup of popular musicians and headliner Duane Stephenson, Belizeans are poised to be entertained tonight with something for every member of the family.  Mechanical rides, fireworks, food and drinks, it will all be there and CitCo says you should be there too.

“Everything is now coming to fruition and a lot of effort, a lot of hard work and preparation have gone into making this evening a reality.  We are very pleased that the weather has cooperated with us, we don’t have the problems that we had the last time we planned the opening of the park.  As you look around, you can see the musicians and the artists are already here getting set for this big concert that comes up later on this evening and of course we have the rides all set.  The vendors are stocking up in their booths, making sure that they can handle the crowd that we are anticipating will be here.  It’s just the continuation of the council’s initiative to bring the people back to the parks and bringing the parks back to life and indeed it has caught on in a major way.  Belizeans have been waiting for something like this and we are very pleased and proud to be able to offer it to them.  As you know, the lineup we have is an all-star lineup of Belizean artists.  We have Kenny Gladden and the New Creation Band, Taprick the Sheriff, Consigo, Chico Ramos the Godfather of Punta Rock, the up and coming sensation Harlem Youths, Belize’s Queen of Dancehall Sharon Martinez and, you know, our headlining artist Duane Stephenson has been making all the media rounds making sure that people know that yes he is here and he is prepared to give them not their money’s worth but definitely their anticipation’s worth.”

The event is free of cost and the Belize City Council has gone to great lengths to secure the venue.
