Supal Street Boss, Soup Williams, arraigned for shooting

Jason ‘Soup’ Williams

Thirty-five-year-old Jason ‘Soup’ Williams, the reputed leader of the Supal Street gang, believed to be involved in a near-fatal shooting incident on Tuesday, during which a pair of Belize City men were injured, was arraigned in court this morning.  The charges however, do not include the attempted murder of twenty-five-year-old Kariq Tzul or twenty-seven-year-old Andrew Tate, who both came under sustained gunfire that night, following a heated exchange with Williams earlier in the day.  Soup, who appeared unrepresented before Chief Magistrate Anne Marie Smith, maintains that he is being framed by police.  It is reported that Williams is the triggerman whom they believe opened fire on Tzul, who was shot twice in the left upper leg, and Tate, who was shot in both arms, legs and left side of the abdomen, while at a residence on George Street.

“Upon arrival at that location, they learned that two persons had been shot—one Kariq Tzul and one Andrew Tate. The investigation revealed at that point that a single gunman came walking from the direction of King Street and opened fire at the two young men sitting on the stage at that location. The police retrieve fifteen expended nine millimeter shells and both persons were hospitalized.”

“Do you know their condition at this time? And what is believed to have led to that shooting?”

Supt. Alden Dawson

“The condition of the two victims at this time, they are both stable at the K.H.M.H. and we believe that an incident that triggered that situation last night was something that happened at the Fish market, the Conch Shell Bay Area earlier the said evening between the two rival gangs.”

According to police, Williams fired at them while being pursued near the corner of West and Bishop Streets.  He has been since been charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon upon a pair of officers identified as police constables Elvin Nah and Jason Augustine.  Williams was additionally charged with a single count of discharging a firearm in public.  While there haven’t been any charges of attempted murder brought against him for injuring Tzul and Tate, News Five understands that a formal report is yet to be filed by the shooting victims.
