Over 100 employees fired from Golden Princess in Corozal Free Zone

News Five has received credible information that the casino known as the Golden Princess, located near the northern border, has closed its doors. Those reports circulated this morning, along with news that over one hundred employees had been let go. No information was forthcoming from the management of the Princess.  This afternoon, News Five spoke with a representative from the Ministry of Trade and Investment who told us that they are also having difficulties getting concrete information on the situation. The Ministry has received notice that the Golden Princess is downsizing and equipment is being transferred to another affiliated casino. But despite continuous queries, the Ministry has apparently been unable to get any figures on employees who have been terminated. According to sources in the know, business at the Golden Princess has been slow for some time now, in large part because gaming establishments, though illegal in Mexico, have been given special temporary permission to operate in certain states. That has affected the flow of traffic from our northern neighbor to the casinos on the border. The Princess operates two casinos on the border. One remains open and operational. We’ll have more information on this story in our subsequent newscast.

  1. Corozal Update says:

That means that over 100 Corozalenos will no longer be treated like slaves and called like animals by their Turk masters.
I hope the Belizean workers are sober long enough to sue for their serverance pay and other benefits.
Of course with the crooked Labour Officers & Social Security Officers running Corozal, these ex employees will get the shaft. Guaranteed.
