Uncle, who is shot by his nephew, succumbs

Forty-four year old Thomas Ferguson Senior was stabbed in the chest by his nephew on December seventh, 2013, following a bitter land dispute in which the two were engaged in for a number of years.  The enmity stemmed from a property on Arlington Drive which had been developed by Ferguson and his family.  His nephew, thirty-seven-year-old Oliver Peters, settled on a piece of the property sometime after.  The men, however, soon began arguing over ownership of the parcel and the animosity reached a head when Peters confronted his uncle in the early hours of that morning.  He inflicted a single stab wound which landed Ferguson Senior in the K.H.M.H. clinging to life.  It’s been two and a half months since the incident and while Ferguson was subsequently released from the hospital, he succumbed to his injury on Sunday morning.  Peters was initially charged for attempted murder, use of deadly means of harm and dangerous harm.  News Five spoke with Corporal Jorge Lemus who says that the charge may be upgraded to murder, following the results of an autopsy.

“A post mortem is presently ongoing at the K.H.M.H. morgue on the body of one Thomas Ferguson Senior who was stabbed on the seventh of December at about twelve-twenty-three a.m. apparently by his nephew Oliver Peters. Oliver Peters was subsequently arrested and charged for attempt murder, use of deadly means of harm and dangerous harm. At this time, police are awaiting the directives from the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions to upgrade the charge to murder.”

“Now sir, is it known whether Mister Ferguson died as a result of the injuries that he had sustained from that incident or was it something else?”

“No, no, no. He wasn’t hospitalized from then, but we got information that on Saturday at eleven a.m., Mister Ferguson Senior had passed away.”
