Post mortem confirms Thomas Ferguson died of stab wound
A post mortem examination on the body of Thomas Ferguson Sr., who succumbed over the weekend to an injury received on December seventh, 2013, confirms that he died of complications resulting from the stab wound. Ferguson was stabbed once to the chest by his nephew Oliver Peters, following a bitter dispute over title to a plot of land on Arlington Drive which they both occupied. Since the incident, Ferguson remained hospitalized at the KHMH. On Sunday morning, after taking a turn for the worst, the forty-four-year-old passed away. This afternoon, News Five spoke with Ferguson’s wife, who told us that the autopsy confirmed that he died from the injury.

“When I visit my husband dah hospital every day. Some day ih okay and some days ih noh okay. Until when the time when the nurses tell we to come in come check with the doctor because mi husband get worse and ih passed away Saturday, the twenty-second of February.”
“In visiting your husband since he was hospitalized in early December and you mentioned that at some point he was doing well; there were other days when he was not too well. What were the doctors telling you along the way?”
Loraine Ferguson
“Well along the way…the week before he get worse, they tell me that my husband di do good; directly they wah take out the tract from outta ih throat fi make ih could talk, fi make ih could eat and after that dehn mi wah teach ahn how fi walk. But two days after, the nurses dehn tell me come in because the doctor dehn wah see me because mi husband condition get worse. So when we gone in and check with the doctor, the doctor tell me that mi husband got complication, water deh dah ih lungs and ih heart and ih heart noh di beat too…ih heart too weak and ih body too weak. Every minute ih pressure go up and ih go down; ih catch seizures in front of us every minute. I go visit my husband two times a day…when visiting hours to make sure that ih okay, if ih eat; if ih feel good.”

“How were you able to balance having to deal with your husband in the hospital against knowing that it was his nephew who inflicted this fatal stab wound?”

“This was all over a land dispute from what I gathered in the first instance. You guys had settled this piece of land first and then Oliver Peters came afterwards, as your husband’s nephew. And shortly thereafter, they began arguing amongst each other over ownership of the property. Now it would seem as though Mister Peters would be charged for murder. Does this now bring an end to the feud in terms of the way you are seeing it or is there any animosity between the remaining family members over the land?”
Loraine Ferguson
“Well, dah only he dah mi di problem. He wanted half of the land for his mother; that dah weh he mi tell my husband. My husband tell ahn no I can’t give yo di land because I have eight children and when I dead I need fi left something here for my children in case if I get sick and die or I get old and dead, I noh want dead and noh got nothing for mi children. He mi done seh that he noh want fi he children deh all about; he want make sure that he got this for his children. But Oliver Peters neva understand my husband when my husband talk. All my husband mi want dah fi make dehn move this house so that ih coulda mi build wah lee addition fi ih son. Ih explain fi dehn make dehn move the house and put it dah back. Then dehn noh mi wah got no problem.”
It is expected that Peters’ initial charges of attempted murder, use of deadly means of harm and dangerous harm will now be upgraded to murder.
